Further details of the Area.

Our neighbours and caretakers of the properties will enjoy helping you in any way they can during your stay. With the use of a translation app nothing is a problem to them!
Their daughters Lucía ( at University in Huelva ) with excellent English but very shy and Laura ( 8 yrs ) and dog Toby are a typical local family and will enjoy having you as short term neighbours too.

Here is a LOT to see and do around the local area. Our favourites are outlined below!

Vejer de la Frontera
Visit the Tourist Office in the main car park for maps and Wha’ts On and maybe a guided walk around the fortified walls, towers and gateways of our local White Town. Maybe finish your visit in the ‘Plaza de Espana‘. The Califa Hotel and garden is our favourite dining place locally and maybe a preprandial ‘Palo Cortado' at the little sherry or two! at the wine bar at the top of the square. Round the corner at La Calle de la Corridera do enjoy the wonderful views around and up to Medina and the many and varied tapas/dining menus.

Barbate
The glorious white sand local beach is bordered by a pedestrian “pasaje” lined with all types of restaurants, ice cream parlours, and bars. This whole coastline has glorious beaches of all shapes and sizes.
The town itself was and is a Tuna Fishing “Almadraba” town, with a historical tuna fishing museum and has a variety of large supermarkets and an interesting local ‘mercado’ ( a wet market for meat, fish and vegetables).
La Brena and Marismas of Barbate Natural Park includes many wooded walks atop the sea cliffs of Barbate to the rocky headland of Cape Trafalgar.

Bolonia
The ancient ruins and museums of Roman town of Baelo Claudia is very well worth a visit.

Tarifa
Here we have Cetacean Boat trips into the Straits of Gibraltar and Hovercraft ferries (half hour approx) to visit the aromatic and colourful souks of the Morrocan port of Tangier.
Don’t miss the old historic city of Tarifa with its narrow streets and shops and another 38k of beaches to explore busy with Windsurfing and Kitesurfing activities.

Jerez de la Frontera
This is Sherry Capital of Spain with a wide and important selection of Bodegas to visit e.g. my favourites the larger (Tio Pepe) and smaller (Barbadillo).
Also visit the Andalusian School of Equestrian Art here and their dancing horse demos or the Flamenco bars and Tapas Bars of the city.

Cadiz
A good way to visit province capital is by ferry across the bay from Puerto de Santa Maria where parking is easy!
There is an open topped hop on/off bus tour available for a good overview of the city.
In the centre there is an easy old town walk following painted lines and a visit to the baroque cathedral and panoramic and views from its yellow tiled dome.
If you are interested in fine art there works of Rubens and Miro to view in the Museo de Cadiz.

Medina Sidonia
The oldest White Town in Andalucia.!
Just wander winding streets and walls and visit the ruined hilltop Castillo surrounded by the vast farms of fighting bulls.
Amongst the many eating spots is ‘El Duque’ Michelin star restaurante.
Remember that siesta time is from 1300 - 1700 and the perfect time for a leisurely lunch as everything else is closed.
