La Chimera is a gem of a house. It is enormous, with plenty of space to spread out and find a quiet spot, if so desired. We stayed in August 2024, a family of five (3 adult boys) and by the end of two weeks felt like we had moved in properly. The outside space and views from the multiple terraces and bedroom windows is spectacular, looking across to wooded hills across the valley. The swimming pool is the place to be during the hot days, with enough space alongside for everyone to relax, and a good mix of shade and sun to suit different needs. The two main outdoor areas we used were the dining terrace and 'drinks' terrace. Both over enough shade during the day and are well lit for evening eating and games of cards.
we loved this house. The building is steeped in history, and beautifully and comfortably renovated. The location is fantastic - there is a little village nearby and beautiful walled towns like Cortona and Citta de Castello in easy reach. The owners recommended lots of restaurants in different towns around the area and we tried a different one each night. They were great restaurants which we would never have found otherwise, great food, amazing value and full to the brim with locals (always a good sign). We can't wait to go back

We stayed as a group of 13, spanning three generations of our families from teenagers to grannies. La Chimera is a large comfortable villa restored beautifully by the owners and there was something for every one of us to enjoy. The teenagers loved access to the pool everyday at any time. The parents loved the large outside dining area and various other lounging areas to sit, eat, drink and relax. The grannies liked being with everyone but could easily slip away into their beautiful quiet bedrooms to read or rest whenever they wanted. Everyone enjoyed day trips to little Umbrian and Tuscan villages. The villa overlooks a quiet valley but we could easily get to the local trattoria. Somehow, there seemed to be a distinct calm, relaxed and happy atmosphere about the villa. The owners were kind and helpful in every way and so relaxed considering they had opened up their cherished villa to us. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to visit again.
