Villa Helios

By Tom Brooks on 19-Sep-2020

Lovely villa with stunning views and great pool. Set in good grounds and our stay coincided with ripe figs.Remote enough to feel like you're on your own but close enough to good shop and restaraunts that if relaively fit and healthy you can walk to. Beach a bit further still and a 'good' uphill walk back - lovely beachside bar/restaraunt. Villa owner great to deal with - good directions and info. Kefalonia a stunning island and lovely people. Best recommendation I can give is that we'll look to go back! (Take beach towels with you and if you intend to cook at all there's no salt/pepper etc etc not sure if removed by cleaners due to covid) There's diswasher but need to buy tablets and we had to buy salt as it had run out. Washing machine too but didn't use. You'll need to empty your bin(s) but loads of roadside 'council' bins so no great problem. Just the holiday we needed!!!!

Dream holiday

By Claire on 02-Aug-2020

This was our first time on the island and will certainly not be the last. The villa was just amazing and is in a stunning location. The instructions to the villa are very precise and allowed us to find it straight away, in the dark. The villa and pool exceeded our expectations. It has everything you need, and more. We enjoyed picking the lemons for our drinks and grilling the dogs on the bbq. We stay in villas twice per year and this is one of the best; the pool is stunning and was kept immaculately clean by the management company during our stay. We visited many of the local beaches- all of them are beautiful. We also chartered a boat on two different days to explore the coastline- a real highlight. We managed to explore the whole island in the car. I certainly recommend this but watch the goats on the roads! You can walk down a little track opposite the villa to the local restaurants. We did this most evenings at about 9.30pm and always had amazing dinners. Can’t wait until we return again!!!

Fantastic Villa

By Jules, Devon on 04-Sep-2013

Villa Helios was everything we could have wanted and more! The location was perfect, perched on the side of the mountain with 180 degrees of coastline and dramatic mountains behind. It was very hard to get out of the infinity pool! The Villa was a fantastic size for 8 people - with 4 spacious bedrooms all ensuite and all a very high standard. Denise and Stelios who look after the property were brilliant - you can order Denise's home cooked food - which was delicious. The location of the Villa was great as very near to some fantastic tavernas and beaches - some of the best on the island. We gave the property 10 out of 10 and will definitely be going back! Perfect Holiday

By John Hampshire on 04-Sep-2013

Perfect Holiday 5/5 Stayed Jun 2012 JohnHampshire We stayed as a family of 5 adults and one 2 year old and were blessed with a week of near perfect weather. The villa is if anything better than the description and photos imply with ample space. The house, grounds and pool were spotless and well-maintained with good quality indoor and outdoor furniture. There are fantastic views across the bay and out to sea from the patio and bedrooms. The owner was friendly and helpful, the booking process was easy and our deposit was returned promptly. The location is good with travel along the coast road being very easy - but you will need a hire car. Instructions for finding the villa were clear and apart from overshooting the turn-off by 400m, we had no problems. However, don't lose the instructions as you will definitely need them. The villa is down a shared narrow track that varies in quality from rough to reasonable concrete and the trip to the local bakers (limited range, but very good) on the main road is about 1km. A decent, sandy beach is about 2km down the hill - walkable but a long climb back up if you have young children. Even at the beginning of June the water was warm enough to swim in. We mainly ate in, but the nearest restaurant down towards the beach is to be avoided. Lorraine's, about 5km away, was much, much better. Life was so easy and pleasant at the villa that we hardly saw anything of Kefalonia but what we did see was pleasant but not picture postcard, mainly because most of the island was destroyed in a 1953 earthquake. We booked this as a special family holiday and it exceeded expectations for young and old alike. The villa is superb and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Submitted 4 Sep 2013

Villa Helios

By Mette on 04-Dec-2013

Our stay at Villa Helios was a truly amazing and unforgettable experience. Kefalonia is a beautiful place and the Greek people we encountered around the island were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. The tranquility and peace of the villa itself in its beautiful grounds and fantastic setting was exactly as described and more than we could have wished for. The villa and its grounds are maintained to an exceptionally high standard and Denise and Stelios extended a very warm welcome to us showing great kindness throughout our stay. The moussaka prepared by Denise on our last evening was absolutely delicious and we wished we had taken the opportunity to sample more of her meals during our stay. Myrtos beach is a must visit place with the colour of the water like nothing you could imagine. It was brilliant for swimming although younger children would find the waves too powerful. It would be advisable to take a picnic however as the snacks at the beach hut were disappointing. Assos is small and very beautiful and a lovely place to lunch and laze. Fiskardo was by contrast much more upmarket with lovely shops and places to eat but quite pricey. Nice to gaze at the yachts and we enjoyed feeding the fish in the harbour! We particularly enjoyed swimming at Kanali where the beach was sandy, utterly peaceful and unspoilt. Lourdas beach was great for good value water activities - boat hire from the 'Escape Club' hut on the beach was the best value for boat hire that we could find. Melisani lake was interesting to see but was not good value for money with the boat trip into the cave lasting no more than 15 minutes. The younger members of our party found the nightlife in Argostoli very enjoyable with a great many bars to choose from. Skala however we found disappointing being aimed it seemed at British tourists and somewhat lacking in traditional Greek atmosphere. Car hire we discovered was available from Lourdas at a cheaper rate than from the hire companies operating at the airport. Our stay at Villa Helios was absolutely wonderful from start to finish and it is most certainly a place that I would have no hesitation in recommending to others and in returning to.
