Description
Welcome to our gorgeous home in the Eastern Algarve hills above Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo in the old village of Malhada do Judeu. We'd like to invite you to rent our holiday villa available as either a 2 or 3 bedroom unit , all rooms being ensuite. We have a heated 8mx4m pool which benefits from daylong sunlight exposure and a very large outdoor decking platform with loads of space for sunbeds, rattan loungers , umbrellas and everything you'd expect really. Even a bar area! Good wifi available throughout the property for when you need it but why not take the opportunity to unplug and do a digital detox!Our home is a traditional Portuguese house, split into 2 adjoining halves. South facing, we enjoy great sun all day long with the added benefit of stunning sunrises and sunsets. The rental half has 3 ensuite bedrooms and sleeps six comfortably, plus a sofa bed in the lounge. We live in the other half!
It has a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area with multiple outdoor patios. The well established garden has a multitude of trees such as clementine, oranges, figs, almonds, olives and carobs. A purpose built boules area nestles next door to the lazy hammock slung between 2 trees. A barbecue is available for those perfect al fresco meals. At night the loudest thing you might hear is an owl.
The kitchen has an oven, hob, 2 fridge/freezers and washing machine. We are in the process of trying to add a dishwasher. If you want the hustle and bustle of Albufeira we are not for you, if you want to enjoy recharge time in a little slice of paradise we think we can help. We have Starlink wifi and multiple access points in the house and decking areas for reliable internet connectivity, this also links to the TV system which offers full HD TV channels from multiple European countries.
We can offer the option to have a chef for the odd BBQ, or romantic meal. If you don't fancy the drive out why not chat to Suse and organise your own menu? We can also organise massage appointments in the comfort of our home here at Casa Kamina with a mobile sports massage lady Justine at €55 for an hour's massage . These need to be pre-booked to guarantee availability. If you'd like the opportunity to ride horses whilst here we recommend Antonio at Quinta Alivisquer near Cabanas. With horses suitable for beginners through to more experienced riders you have the option of 1-2 hours starting at just €25 per hour including chaps and a riding hat. Beach rides available till 15th May. Pre-booking again advised.
We are surrounded by miles of rolling hills offering endless opportunities for walking and cycling. The beauty of the Serra do Caldeirão will work it's magic. You’ll love the peace and tranquillity, the opportunity to take time out to recharge and refresh. Situated just 40 minutes from Faro airport and 10 minutes above Santa Catarina village (supermarket, bakers, restaurants, bar, bank).
You’ll need a car to maximise your stay. Our nearest restaurant is 3 km away, a delightful traditional Portuguese mountain specialty where you can enjoy substantial and wholesome food. Santa Catarina offers several choices of restaurants but the larger towns of Tavira, Sao Bras and Olhao are all within 25 minutes drive as are the wonderful beaches and islands of the Ria Formosa. We can recommend lots of very good restaurants in the surrounding areas.
Well behaved pets are welcome subject to prior approval. We have 3 dogs of our own and if you have any concerns regarding ours please read the reviews. We live in the other half of the villa- guests have priority for the pool area, patio and garden areas - we do our utmost to respect that you are on holiday whereas we can enjoy it all year round.

By Linda and Graham on 19-Oct-2024What a location! A lovely, well equipped, comfortable cottage (beds 10 out of 10). So peaceful and relaxing. Excellent hosts and lovely dogs! A wonderful holiday had by all, despite heavy rain on a couple of days, but the excellent choice of the TV kept us occupied. Hopefully we'll be back another time. New friendships, delicious cooking, hours of Ollie-sitting (we've really never seen him so happy) and water pistol fights in that lovely warm pool! We will miss you both and the house in equal measure- looking forward to our next trip back to see you. Oh and how could I forget the dogs! All part of the most memorable times. They made our stay extremely relaxing by organising all our amenities and recommending local things to do. Any queries or concerns they dealt with quickly and their communication was excellent. We will certainly be returning to this stunning villa next year. The villa is incredible, the views are stunning and Tavira is the perfect Portuguese town. Suse and Peter - thank you so much you are wonderful hosts, looking forward to being here next year. To other guests if you get the chance, you have to try the live in chef (Suse!) - great choice on the menu, great cooking and Peter is shaping up well as a waiter! Best thing is being able to have a drink as no drive home, then chill out in front of the fire and flop into bed! We''ll see you soon, 11 months to go and counting.
