Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy Beautiful Historic Home with lots to do Three generations, age 20 to 82, stayed for 6 nights. Good location. Large, very private grounds. Roomy and beautiful interior. Great restaurants nearby (Restaurant Central in Colares, Retiro do Saloio, Moinho Iberica). Grandchildren loved tennis courts, fitness center, ping pong table. pool table, and the pool. The pool house was super for an evening in. Host was very accommodating and gave us bottles of his favorite local wines to try. Had problems with the ac which resulted in in the host opening an extra room for us.. My only nit is that in a humid climate, guests should get more than one bath towel per week.
We stayed at Manuel's home to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and our experience more than exceeded our expectations and my parents had a lifetime experience. Thank you Manuel
This place is amazing! (The photos don't do it justice). There were 13 of us in a family group and everyone, ( even the teenagers ) were more than happy. We stayed for 10 days but we all said we could have stayed for longer. There's so much space, you can ride the bikes around the grounds. The main house is spacious with bathrooms for everyone and although it's kept it's character it has modern amenities. The 2 cottages were perfect, with sitting room, bathroom and bedroom in each. The pool is beautiful with enough sun loungers for everyone and pool towels provided. The pool house is fantastic. We tended to eat in there in the evenings ( It has it's own kitchen, bbq area, shower room etc ) and then retire to the gaming room to play pool, music etc. The tennis court was well used. There is also a gym and a table tennis area. It's a 15-20 minute easy walk downhill to the most beautiful beach. Walking back would be a challenge but there is a bus if needed. We hired a car which was needed for shopping and picking us up from the beach. ( There's a Lidl and Aldi about 10 minutes easy drive away ). The house is in a village setting, and there are a few random shops, cafes and a Spar for essentials. The bus stop in the village takes you to Sintra etc. We used Uber and Bolt to get us into Sintra for day trips. It's beautiful. Restaurants are about a 5 minute drive away. This is a fantastic house and complex in a very peaceful setting. Manuel, the owner was really lovely . Very welcoming and unobtrusive, but always there to answer our many questions and provide recommendations etc. I can't recommend this house enough. PS. I never normally leave reviews but this place is so much more than we expected!
La maison et les cottages sont justes magnifiques tout était très propre est fonctionnel, la maison ce trouve à 20 mn à pied de la plage. Nous n’avions pas de voiture on a tout fait en Uber très facile. 25 min de sintra 40 min de Lisbonne. Manuel est très gentil et toujours de bon conseil il habite sur la propriété est n’est pas du tout envahissant il nous a prêté deux vélos pour aller faire des courses juste à côté (5min). Possibilité de faire du surf avec le voisin de manuel très sympa. Nous étions 6 adultes et 7 enfants de 5 à 13 ans
We had a wonderful stay. We were three families with kids ranging from 8-15. The grounds provided a fantastic playground for both the adults and kids. While the weather wasn’t ideal we still managed to enjoy the tennis court, both pools, gym and ping pong table. Manuel was a great host and provided excellent recommendations for food and activity. We took advantage of the private chef Jose for a breakfast and dinner which was great. The location is perfect for exploring the beaches and going to Sintra to explore the castles.
