If you love being away from it all and enjoying the peace and serenity of the hills with no tourists or noise, this is the place for you. The villa is located about 25 minutes drive from the nearest shop. So make sure you stock up on supplies. The location is lovely: windy, warm, fresh and clean. The view is idyllic and the pool is cool and beautiful. The property is spacious and elegant with everything a family needs. The host is very helpful with great tips on where to visit and eat out. This is an ideal place for families especially those who would like to try out their Portuguese with the local people who are all extremely friendly and kind. One thing to note, this villa is located directly beside another villa (so you drive for 25 minutes away from the town and end up in the hills on a tiny, little dirt road with 2 villas side by side, kind of in the middle of nowhere). I was told by the the agent (not the property owner herself) that this villa was not overlooked by any other property. But in fact the next door villa can see into a section of the pool area and you can hear everything each other get up to outside. We were looking for total privacy, so this was a slight disappointment for us, but I imagine most people would be okay with it at it is largely private. There is only one section of the pool area that is overlooked so you can swim in the pool itself without being watched, it's just when you get it of the pool a nosey neighbour could watch you if they wanted to, so no skinny dipping! The villa is stocked with towels, inflatables for the pool, books, tv, and so on. It's a lovely place to spend time with your family and I hope to come back again soon.
We had an amazing stay. Lovely accommodation very well equipped, very clean everything you could need. Lots of history in the accommodation. I would highly recommend a stay here. I would definetly stay here again.
We don,t often write reviews so this is an exception. Maria did warn us that the villa is remote when we looked at it last year ,so we went near the coast instead.This year we thought we would give it a try and we were not disappointed. It is very remote , but very quiet with exceptional views. Paula and her Mother meet us on arrival and when we left.They were extremely helpful and Friendly. The Villa is very big , well equipped , ( loads of towels and pool toys, etc, for the kids )absolutely spotless with a lovely pool setting. It,s quite a trek to the nearest grocery so I would suggest you do a big shop on route.The Lidl ,in Sao Bras de Alportal, is good. If you are looking for a quiet,relaxing getaway and enjoy nature you won't be disappointed.
