Description

"Friends of Tuscany Ltd." will manage all aspects of your villa booking with tailored information to get the most from your holiday. We can help arrange a private chef, babysitting services, weddings and other events.

Villa Ruggero is an old olive oil farm which has been restored to a very high standard to provide accommodation for large groups of family or friends to enjoy a holiday together on the fascinting and historic island of Sicily. It's set in the typical landscape of the Sicilian country-side, at 800 meters of altitude, on the edge of the natural park of Madonie and only 30 minutes from the sea at Cefalù.

The farm has a charming atmosphere and an extensive panaromic view of the surrounding landscapes, including the volcano Etna. The farm is within 3 kms of the archaeological site of Polizzi Generosa, which is an important local town and near the biggest rock salt mines of Europe.

Visitors will be impressed by the often stunning landscape of the island's interior.

The farm is laid out in a unique way.It has been owned for several generations by the same owners, who have restored the farm using ancient building techniques and materials, combined with interesting modern styles. There are 3 dry-stone walled buildings which are joined by cobbled-stone paths.

Within these buildings the accommodation is set on two floors with 11 bedrooms which include a small apartment: 3 of the rooms have balconies that face the big yard of the entrance as well as the 'italian' garden, and the others face the different landscapes of the Madonie country-side. All the rooms are en-suite.

The small apartment has 2 bathrooms and an internal stair.

One of the bedrooms is larger, with a double bed and a twin bunk or 'castello' bed, perfect for children or a small family unit.

In total there are 28 bed spaces, and baby cots are also available.

In the main building of the farm there is a large dining room with seating for up to 28 people, which also has a unique feature fireplace in the lounge area.

There is a self catering kitchen with facilities which make it easy to cook for large groups.

Outside, the unique infinity swimming pool is the main feature. At 16 metres by 5 metres, the pool is excellent for relaxation and play, and keen swimmers can improve their fitness.

A number of outdoor activities can be arranged, including guided trekking in the National Park, and there is horse riding only 3kms away.

A visit to a local farm can be arrnged to learn about cheese making and olive oil, and cooking lessons can also be arranged.

The farm is available for weddings, art courses, therapy groups, cooking or any type of group activity, as well as outdoor activities.

LOCATION

The house is situated between Trabia and Termini Imerese, at the northern coast of Sicily.

You can enjoy your holiday staying at the sea and taking the sun during all the year. The temperature is warm from May to October and we usually go to swim in these months and there are sunny days in the most part of the year. Our guests normally love to have a rest in our house but they like to discover the island all around too.

Because of the central location of the house, it’s possible to organize a lot of excursions by car, staying out few hours or the whole day and coming back in the evening. You can reach the most important touristic places by train from Trabia or Termini Imerese.

Trabia (1,5 Km)

Termini Imerese (6 Km)

Beautiful property conveniently located

By Todd G on 15-Jun-2022

My husband''s family''s roots are in Calabria and Sicily, and we were thrilled to find Tenuto Don Ruggero to have as a base for a family reunion. The whole family, 21 of us at a time, 23 in total, fit very comfortably into this lovely property. Polizzi Generosa is a convenient, centrally located base from which we explored the food and history of Palermo, the cathedral at Monreale, the beaches at Cefalu, the Greek ruins of Agrigento, and the history of Siracusa. At night, we gathered for cocktails on the truly stunning veranda overlooking the nearby valley. Four of our nights, we arranged with Friends of Tuscany to have a chef prepare a meal for the whole group in the villa''s kitchen, and we had memorable dinners together in the massive, gorgeous dining hall. Two nights we reserved dinner in nearby Castellana, which is only a couple of kilometers away. The rooms are very comfortable, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were very clean. Many of the rooms had beautiful balconies. An inconvenience for those of us used to American rentals, some of us were disappointed that there was no shampoo in the bathrooms and limited toilet paper, so if you book this lovely place, make sure to bring toiletries and also kitchen cleaning supplies, such as paper towels and detergents. We only had one problem - a fuse blew in one of the rooms - and it was fixed within the hour. The owners, Simonetta and Claudia, were very helpful and communicative. I would strongly recommend Tenuto Don Ruggero to any group, with the understanding that staying at this villa is self-serve and self-catering. This is a working farm and the olive oil in the kitchen is from its own olives. We made sure to buy a jar of it and will enjoy it now that we are home. We hope to come back someday!

Gran casa para visitar la zona oeste de Sicilia

By Beatriz C. on 22-Apr-2022

Attard, Malta The perfect place to enjoy peace and tranquillity amongst the rolling mountains of Sicily.

By Pattman on 07-Nov-2018

The location is unspoiled by the effects of tourism. It is located high on a mountain away from the hustle and bustle of the urban noise. We loved the location and waking up in the morning to the fresh breeze and the sounds of the countryside was a unique experience. The place has all the mod cons and although we were in a large group of 16 people we never felt cramped or in any way overcrowded. All the bedrooms had their own individual bathrooms and there were enough tables and chairs located on the different levels so we could all eat together or individually as we pleased. Castellana Sicula is a small village about 3kms away, it has all the shops and amenities that one may require. The locals are very friendly and willing to help. Their goods are priced for the locals and not inflated as in other tourist locations. Great ice-cream and cake shops in the centre. We would definitely recommend the place to anyone with kids and senior people since there are bedrooms on the ground floor and ramps to access all the locations. There are also gates to block off the swimming pool.

Perfect for a large group

By Jo L on 17-Jun-2018

The estate is a generously sized property with a variety of retreats for groups of more than 20 people, puzzled together from various stages of construction. The bedroom building has fireplaces in the hallways on both floors, where it can sit comfortably in small groups. The bedrooms are lovingly designed. The lounge in a stable with a large fireplace invites to entertaining evenings. Unfortunately, he is not so lovingly designed. DSo are the exterior doors steel frame with glass frame. In the room are plexiglass display cases with various ceramic exhibits. In the courtyard there are several ways to eat together in good weather. Directly around the property is adjacent to a lovely extensive pasture landscape. The nearest town is Castellana Sicula, about 2.5 km away.
