There were 9 of us on a group family holiday. Poggiardo is a charming, historic and quaint Italian Puglia town. We found every body very friendly and helpful. The coast is nearby and beautiful. Food at the local supermarket (5 mins car drive) far better than anything we get in England. Local market on Wednesdays worth a visit too. The local Primitivo wine was also delicious. Lots of space for a large group, great swimming pool in private walled courtyard. Weather was fantastic, we dined Al fresco every night. Played some good golf at Acaya (40 mins drive) and tennis in Maglie (20 mins drive). 3 hour boat ride from Castro port, with swim stops in caves in cliffs everybody’s holiday highlight. Nearby towns of Castro, Otranto and Lecce well worth visiting. Maria was extremely helpful, friendly and good spirited. Would deffo recommend for a large family group.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maria''s place in Poggiardo. We were two families of 4, each staying on a separate floor of the house, in separate apartments. The palazzo was huge and could have accommodated a 3rd family. The kids loved the pool, which was (light) salt water and one level, where they could quite easily touch the bottom. The house was located in the town square, beside a great cafe for morning coffees, and an acclaimed restaurant. Maria was also super helpful with recommendations throughout the stay. There were world class beaches within 15-30 mins drive and access to beautiful port towns like Castro and Otranto, also within 15-30 mins. We had a blast!
