Description
Finca La Asmoladora is a magnificent, traditional old Spanish estate in the middle of fifteen acres of almond, olive, vine, and orange terraces: a stunning property in a spectacular location with panoramic mountain views. It is a haven of rural beauty, peace and quiet, close to the unspoilt pueblo of Parcent but not far from the beaches and the sea.
Casa Andrago is the interconnected Guest House and Tower of the Finca - the largest of the Finca’s four individual properties. It is a superb villa full of character.
In its normal configuration, it is set up to sleep eight people in three twin bedded bedrooms and two single bedrooms. It has a large living/dining room and its own private shaded Naya (terrace) with spectacular views towards our pueblo, Parcent, and the mountains beyond. In the early 1900s, Gabriel Miro, a famous Spanish author, described Parcent as “Paradise between mountains”. Today, it still is.
Casa Andrago has room in two of its bedroom to add additional single beds, which we can supply. With three extra single beds, the Casa can sleep up to 11 people.
All the Finca’s accommodation is arranged around an attractive stone paved courtyard and walled sculpture garden.
The Finca also has three small Casitas - small independent villas - also arranged round the courtyard and close to Casa Andrago. Two of the Casitas sleep two people each, the third Casita sleeps four. One, two or all three of the Casitas can be rented together with Casa Andrago to accommodate groups larger than 8 - 11.
Casa Andrago like all the Casitas at Finca La Asmoladora is superbly equipped. It has a full kitchen and two bathrooms, one with a combined bath/shower and bidet; the other with a very large walk in shower. For winter use the Casa is centrally heated. And for sleeping in summer the bedrooms are equipped with both fans and an air conditioner.
You have the option of renting Casa Andrago and the guest facilities of the Finca for your exclusive use. In that case there will be no other guests staying at the finca while you are there. Or if you are willing to share the finca with other guests, you can minimise your costs by renting Casa Andrago and all the guest facilities at the Finca at a reduced rental rate.
The Finca’s guest facilities include a large covered barbecue area, a very large pool sized for up to 25 people, a tennis court, table tennis, basket ball facilities, a delightful walled sculpture garden and an impressive stone paved courtyard. There is wide choice of places for outdoor eating and drinking. The stone paved courtyard has been used by many groups for cocktail parties and for drinks round the mosaic table at all times of day and often late at night. The pool/barbecue is ideal for music and dancing. The nearest neighbours are more than 250 metres/yards away.
The Finca has hosted many weddings, golden and silver and countless birthday celebrations.
The Finca is extremely large. It has a river running through it. There is a foot bridge and a ford to cross the river, paths which criss cross the terraces and the remains of the water system built by the Romans when Parcenius, a retired Roman Legion General, owned and lived in our pueblo, which still carries his name.
A renowned cook of local pueblo/regional dishes is available to prepare paellas etcetera for you at the finca if you wish.
The Finca is an excellent base for combining sea, beach and sporting activities with driving, riding (horses or mountain bikes), walking, biking, climbing or just roaming the surrounding mountains. The Finca has its own excellent hard court tennis court, outdoor table tennis facilities and basket ball facilities - raquets, bats and balls all provided. There are also a small number of rentable mountain bikes and bikes for adults and children. The valleys lined with fruit and almond trees - an endless sea of pink/ white blossom in spring - and the unspoiled mountain pueblos are a delight to explore. There are two safari parks a short drive from the finca and Benidorm - about a 45 minutes drive away- has as wide variety of theme parks including Terra Mitica. The family resorts of Javea and Denia - each about 30 minutes away - both have a wide varierty of excellent beaches, coves and caves to explore and fascinating historic centres. The castle in Denia dates back to Phoenician times. Both resorts have harbours with fishing fleets and markets where fish off the boats is auctioned.
The produce of the local wineries is well worth sampling - the tiny family winery in Parcent supplies the Spanish Royal family.
After a quiet glass of wine and a few almonds from the finca's almond trees while watching the sun set dramatically behind Parcent and the mountains, if you are not tempted to barbecue your food using the finca own covered facilties, there are memorable restaurants of all types to try in the area.
The historic cities of Valencia and Alicante are just 75 minutes away.
A car is essential.
