We have just returned from an amazing week at this beautiful villa. Everything was perfect, the villa is more spacious than appears in photos, exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The bedrooms are large, good size ensuites snd very comfy beds. Views across countryside down to sea are lovely with beautiful sunsets. Infinity pool is a pleasure to swim in and a good size if you want to get a few lengths in for exercise. There is an excellent taverna within walking distance and villa is very well placed for visiting Kefalonia’s many attractions. The housekeeper was very friendly and helpful and communication from time of booking throughout was quick and helpful. Do not hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed.
At last we got to Villa Portokalia, held up by Covid and lock downs, we finally arrived in early June. As soon as we got out of our hire car, on arrival at the villa, we knew we were in for a real treat. The villa and the pool, in the dying soft eveing light, were a spectacle, it was like we had arrived at paradise. We quickly unpacked and headed for the local taverna, Maklithari Taverna, just a 5min strool through the village. It was now 10pm and we sat drinking cold beer and eating the most exciting food until midnight. The village, Maklithari, has everything within walking distance, a couple of small supermarkets, a bakery, and two or three tavernas. The villa is perfectly placed to investigate the rest of the Island and you dont have to travel far to find perfect beaches and coves with water as blue and clear as anything I have ever seen. I was there with my wife two daughters and one boyfriend, five adults in total. The layout of the villa worked perfectly for us and was extremley well equiped. There were four or five different sun terraces which all seemed to capture the suns rays right through the day, and the planting around the villa was a sight to be seen. I have included some picturs of the flowers from around the villa. There were many high points to this holiday but those that deserve a special mention are: such a beautiful villa, the friendlyness of the people of Kefalonia, the crystal clear waters, great beaches, excellent food and wine, prices that will surprise you (in a good way) and the ability of Kefalonia to totally relax and rejeuvinate body and soul. Would we go there again, well what do you think!!
This is a beautiful, spacious, well appointed villa in a nice peaceful location. Well located for all central and northern island places of interest but a car is essential. Plenty of restaurants within a few minutes drive and one that is walkable to and recommended in the village where the villa is. Smart air conditioning takes a bit of getting used to but did the job. Great pool with a view to match and we wish we were still there. Sophia very friendly and helpful
