Description

Nestled in mature olive groves above Avlaki Bay, with wonderful views over the headlands of north east Corfu, Villa Aurora provides the perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday. Set in an acre of grounds, Aurora offers exclusivity and seclusion, yet all essential holiday amenities are within easy reach. Avlaki beach with its crystal-clear waters and two excellent tavernas are close by, a few minutes’ drive by car or a walk down a rough track from the villa gates. The water's edge tavernas of Agios Stefanos and the bustling harbour of Kassiopi are only a few minutes’ drive. Aurora provides spacious and well-appointed living accommodation. The villa’s many communal and private spaces make it ideal for families holidaying together.

Bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms
There are two double and two twin bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are fitted with air conditioning, and have vaulted ceilings and ample storage facilities. French doors from the bedrooms lead onto a balcony that runs the entire length of the villa, providing stunning views of the Corfu Channel and Albanian mountains. The master bedroom has space for a cot and a futon for younger children, enabling the villa to accommodate 8 adults and 2 young children.

Living space
Downstairs, the open plan living space includes a fully equipped kitchen with island breakfast bar. French doors lead to an outdoor veranda with comfortable seating and dining areas. Retractable insect screens have recently been installed to this area to create an outdoor space in which to eat, drink and relax, free of uninvited flying guests - extremely useful during the summer months. For those wanting to stay in touch with friends or the office, or stream subscription tv channels, we have installed Starlink high-speed internet.

Swimming pool
The private swimming pool measures 10m x 5m with depth from 0.5m to 1.9m, and is surrounded by a generous patio. Access to the pool can be restricted via a gate at the top of the steps leading from the veranda to the pool. In the early and late seasons, an air source heat pump takes the chill off the pool water, raising it to a few degrees higher than it would otherwise be.

Servicing
Our ever helpful and fully bilingual property manager, Natushka provides a meet and greet service together with a complimentary welcome pack containing essentials. She and her husband Yianni are available throughout your holiday, to assist with any problems that might arise during your stay. The villa is serviced twice weekly; bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are provided.

The property is registered for holiday rentals with the Greek National Tourist Office, EOT licence number 0829K10TK8213001. We are very pleased to have many regular families who book from one year to the next and have written some generous reviews "more of a holiday home rather than a holiday let".

Amenities
Kitchen facilities include electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, drinks fridge and filter coffee maker. A separate snug room includes a smart TV enabling you to enjoy your favourite subscription channels whilst away on holiday. The dining room, with its circular marble table, is perfect for cooler evenings or late night card games. There is a ground floor cloakroom (toilet & hand basin) and a utility room with washing machine.

Gardens
Majestic olive trees line the entrance to the grounds surrounding the villa. The gardens bordering the house and pool host a wide variety or Mediterranean plants. The poolside patio has sun beds and a large umbrella providing shade from the midday sun. A pergola, set slightly above the pool area, provides a quiet space if you need a bit of 'me time'. There is a BBQ to prepare a sumptuous supper and a table tennis table to work it off the following day.

Dining out
The area is well served by excellent tavernas serving delicious, freshly cooked local dishes. Cavo Barbaro and Taverna Avlaki are situated below the villa on Avlaki Bay, where you can dine overlooking the sea. There are water's edge tavernas in Agios Stefanos, (Eucalyptus, Kaparelli, Galini and Kochili) and two cocktail bars (Damianos and the Wave Bar). There are many more tavernas and bars in Kassiopi (Tavernaki, Petrino, Little Italy, Vasilikos pizzeria, Wave Bar and Harbour Bar). Alternatively take a water taxi from Agios Stefanos to Taverna Agni for a memorable evening. The White House Restaurant in nearby Kalami provides offers a fine dining experience in the former home of Laurence Durrell.

Supermarkets and shopping
Local supermarkets are only a five minute's drive - Yannis Market in Sinies provides online shopping and will deliver to the villa. There is also a local bakery and fish shop. There are larger supermarkets in Kassiopi and Acharavi (20 minutes drive on the North coast) which has a wider selection of supermarkets. The High Street in Kassiopi has a good mixture of traditional tourist shops, high end boutiques, jewellery shops and a chemist.

Beaches and other activities
Hiring a motor boat is a fun way to explore the idyllic coves that are the signature of North East Corfu’s beauty, made famous by Gerald Durrell's books. Stop for a swim off the beautiful beaches of the Erimitis headland, then head down to Kalami, Agni or Nissaki for lunch. Kerasia beach, possibly the most beautiful beach in Corfu, is reached via Agios Stefanos where there are sun beds, a drinks bar, and fabulous taverna, enabling you to spend the whole day there. Agios Spyridon, a slowly shelving sandy beach ideal for children, is only a short drive along the North coast. Look out for the 'Ice Dream' parlour just before the turn, a must for the return journey! Most beaches have paddleboards or kayaks available for hire. Aqualand, a water theme park in the centre of the island, is a great day out for children and adults alike.

Car hire
Although all amenities are close by, car hire is strongly recommended to get the most from your holiday. Most international firms are represented at Corfu Airport with local firms close by. The drive to the villa along the coast road takes about one hour. Alternatively, a private transfer to the villa costs approximately €80, and a local firm will be pleased to deliver your hire car.

Changeover days
During the months of July and August, our preferred changeover day is Saturday, with lettings for multiples of seven days. In May, June, September and October, there is greater flexibility on changeover days and the length of the holiday period. We may also be able to offer discounts to smaller parties who prefer the space and amenities of a larger villa.

Travel to Corfu
Corfu is well served by flights from most UK airports. There are many friendly boutique hotels in Corfu that provide an ideal way to extend your holiday by a day or two in order to appreciate the beautiful UNESCO world heritage old town, or to match the sometimes rather demanding flight schedules. Try Hotel Bella Venezia, Siorra Vittoria or Cavalieri Hotel.

COVID 19 cancellation terms
If the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advises British nationals against all but essential travel to Corfu, or if the British or Greek authorities impose quarantine requirements affecting Corfu, you may cancel your booking and all sums paid will be refunded in full.

Lets talk...
One of the best things about Simply Owners is the ability for guests and the villa owner, to converse prior to booking to ensure that the property meets their requirements. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Amazing villa with all home comforts

By Debbie on 22-Sep-2024

Villa Aurora is the most beautiful villa in an ideal location. A short drive to a very well stocked supermarket, outstanding patisserie and bakers. Walking distance of Avlaki beach where there’s a taverna serving delicious food. Views from the villa are breathtaking.

Home from home

By David & Sophie on 07-Sep-2024

Having stayed at Villa Aurora eight times it would be easy not to leave a review but this place is so nice it is important to say why we keep coming back. First of all, this is no standard rental property, it is a home and feels like home the moment you walk through the front door. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. The villa has 4 bedrooms - the main bedroom has an ensuite which has recently been refurbished with a new shower which is excellent. The other rooms have access to the upper balcony which has the most outstanding views over Albania. The property sits in a reasonable plot so guests have a lot of privacy. The pool area is lovely with a BBQ and very comfortable sun loungers. There’s even a table tennis table which we use every time we go, always very competitive between the boys!! There is also a great dining area outside with settees to relax. Kassiopi and Agios Stefanos are both not far with their harbours and lovely restaurants, we really feel we are spoilt for choice staying here. There’s nothing we would change about the place and Charles and Elspeth are the perfect hosts. Daytime we would head down to Avlaki Bay as this beach is down the road and has a lovely beachside taverna, Cavo Barbaro. Or Kerasia which you find by going through Agios Stefanos and continuing on the same road until you can't go any further. Best to book the taverna when you arrive just to avoid disappointment. Restaurant wise, it's good to book at busy times as otherwise you may be disappointed as the good restaurants do get booked up. In Kassiopi you have Petrino - a very nice restaurant with an upper balcony area with views right over the harbour. Very charming English lady as a host. or you could head to Tavernaki which is a traditional Greek restaurant, one of our favourites. Very friendly and accommodating. In Agios Stefanos you will find Eucalyptus - an excellent classy restaurant right on the water. Sea Bass carpaccio is excellent. Also Kochili which is another good Greek restaurant and Galini, another traditional Greek right in the centre of Agios Stefanos, very nice steaks. Go to Kalami Bay and you have the White House which is excellent And in Agni you will find Taverna Agni and and Toula's which is renowned for Toula's spicy prawns. Don't miss this dish, you will regret it if you do :) To get to Kalami and Agni in the evening, just book George on his boat, it's 10 euros return to Agni and his number is +30 694 4521632 Apart from that, you could spend a morning exploring Old Perithia which is the oldest permanently inhabited village in Corfu with records dating back to the 14th century or you could go on a boat trip up and down the coast with Katy's boats - you could stop for a coffee in Kassiopi or lunch at Taverna Agni - the mezze here is excellent - but bear in mind that you must book in advance if you go here as this restaurant gets very busy indeed. Nothing more to say apart from that we are as excited to return as the first time we came to Charles and Elspeth's charming villa. You will not be disappointed.

David, very kind of you to write such a helpful and complimentary review. Glad you and Sophie enjoy your regular visits. Few more changes planned for next year too.

Great villa and amazing holiday

By Cathy on 03-Aug-2024

We had 2 weeks in Villa Aurora and didn’t want to leave at the end of it. The villa had everything we could want; the kitchen is the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in any of our villa holidays. The views were stunning, and we never tired of watching the sunset. The pool was fantastic, and the water was really warm, not something I say very often!! Having a little den in the villa was perfect for the children when it got too hot for them they could chill out in there for an hour. Located in a nice quiet area but with easy access to 2 local villages. We spent many evenings in the restaurants in Stefanos, just a 5 min drive. And Kassiopi being the local town just 10 mins drive away. There are many local options to hire a boat for the day we used Katies Boats in Stefanos and paddle boarded in Avlaki. All of the bays that we visited were clean and the water was stunning and clear. So many local bays to visit and go snorkelling or just relax. It was great to know that we had Natushka if we had any issues, which we didn’t. Communication before our visit was fantastic with both Charles and Natushka. Loved everything about the villa and location and made our family holiday very memorable, we wouldn’t think twice about going back here.

Very well located villa with far reaching sea views

By Clare on 20-Jul-2024

Villa Aurora was very well located for our family - secluded and quiet, yet only a 5 minute drive from Avlaki beach and the very pretty village of San Stefano, as well as within east reach of supermarkets etc. It has lovely sea views from the pool area and terrace, as well as from the balconies outside the bedrooms. The pool was a good size and there were plenty of sun beds. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you might need and there was a good sized fridge as well as a separate drinks fridge. We had a fantastic family holiday in Villa Aurora, and would return to both the area and the villa.

Couldn’t recommend more highly

By Charles Burnett on 24-Jun-2024

We much preferred being able to communicate with the owner directly before and after our visit to their beautiful villa. We appreciated the information sheets which had been kindly left for the guests and the recommendations found in the visitors’ book left by previous guests. Villa Aurora gave us by far the best holiday we have had and we felt completely at home as soon as we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils we needed, the air-conditioning performed faultlessly in the high temperatures and the beds were so-o comfortable! Our thanks to Yianni and Natuschka who came so promptly to address any small problems which arose. The view is stunning and the pool a perfect size. The whole family would love to return!

Owner response on 22-Jul-2024

Hi, very pleased you had a great time and many thanks for the great review. Special thanks To Yianni and Natushka who are able to find plumbers and electricians much faster than we can at home!

Wow, what a place to stay!

By Tom on 14-Jun-2024

We stayed at Villa Aurora for 10 nights in June 2024. Our stay was wonderful. The place is, firstly, huge and set in large grounds making it perfectly tranquil. We only stayed as a couple, but Aurora would also be perfect for a large group / 2 families. The villa had a everything we needed -- space and no shortage of various household items that made our stay that much more comfortable. Now, then, the pool and the views! The large pool was incredible, with stunning views over Avlaki bay -- we felt like kings and queens of the castle. I must also mention Charles & Elspeth (the owners), as well as Natushka and Yianni, who manage/maintain the property. Communication with all was brilliant and there was always help at hand if needed. Thank you all! We're already thinking about our return!
