Description

THE OLIVES - By Jules

"You get a whole lot of house for your money at the Olives. From the grand interior to the terrace and garden beyond you’ll be holidaying in 10,000 square feet of space. And it’s all yours.

There’s lots to enjoy within that space too. Here on the rural west side of Gozo the sunny pool terrace is surrounded by shrubs and overlooks countryside and coast. A BBQ and quality garden furniture make al fresco dining a delight. On the first floor you’ll find another patio terrace – perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and watching the sunset over Dwejra.

Inside things are just as inviting. Local stone and arched terraced windows create a light bright space with stunning views. An inbuilt fireplace ensures the Olives makes a cosy winter escape as well as an idyllic summer haven.

The fact you’re staying in one of Gozo’s very best holiday homes is evident throughout. It’s the perfect base from which to enjoy the very best of Gozo. I don’t think you’ll want to leave!". Jules

PROPERTY DETAILS

Ground Floor:

Generous’ barely does the living space justice. Inside you’ll find a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen and spacious dining table.

The extensive living room has plenty of comfy sofas for when lazy lounging is the order of the day. Entertainment facilities include a Hi-Fi Wi-Fi DVD player flat screen TV with cable and a PlayStation.

Bedroom 1 is also on the ground floor and accessed from the hall. It has twin beds and an en-suite shower room.

First floor:

A stone staircase leads to a further 3 bedrooms. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have twin beds with en-suite shower rooms.

Master bedroom 4 is particularly spacious and includes a double bed, a safe and flat-screen TV. Double doors open out to the first-floor patio with views of the countryside. A 2 seater rattan couch and 2 single seats ensure there’s plenty of room to enjoy the view at leisure.

Landing doors also give access to the patio – so you don’t need to disturb the occupants of the master bedroom to enjoy its view.

Opposite the master bedroom is a particularly spacious family bathroom with a bath and shower.

We particularly like the stylish dark wooden furniture found in all the bedrooms.

‘Outside:

Arched terrace doors lead onto the patio which is surrounded by a pretty shrub garden with countryside views. The garden and pool are extremely spacious and south facing, giving you endless opportunities to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. The outside terrace includes excellent facilities for al fresco dining - a BBQ, dining table and chairs, umbrella and comfortable sun loungers.

LOCATION: San Lawrenz:

San Lawrenz is another charming and traditional village. It lies in the westerly part of the Island not far from Dwegra Ban and Ta’Dbiegi Craft Village. Built on a plane this picturesque village is surrounded by three hills: Ta' Dbiegi (at 195 metres above sea level this is Gozo's highest point) Ta' Ghammar and Ta' Gelmus. You will find here the unlikely contrast of a typically rural lifestyle and nurtured village traditions against the five star luxury of the Kempinski San Lawrenz Hotel on the village outskirts.

Interestingly San Lawrenz is one of only two sites named after their patron saint (the other being Santa Lucija in Ta' Kercem). Before the village was established as a parish on 15 March 1893 it was known as Ta' Cangura. This earlier name dates back beyond Gozo’s worst siege in history where in1551 most of the inhabitants were enslaved by the Ottoman Turks. At that time San Lawrenz formed part of Gharb’s parish though San Lawrenz villagers longed for their own parish church and community. Finally achieving parish status in 1893 the locals were so delighted apparently that they set straight to work building their new church with great enthusiasm. The village feast of San Lawrenz falls in the first week of August.

The closest beach Dwejra is just 2 km away and there is also a food store just 1 km from the house. 'Tatitas' Restaurant is a good find in the main village square just 500 metres away from the villa. Not far from the food store is another restaurant Jeffrey's. Alternatively, venture 3.5 km into the main town of Victoria and enjoy the many bars cafe's restaurants and shops it has to offer.

There is a private garage.
