Description
Sinjura - by Jules
“Tucked away on the beautiful valley leading down to Ghajn Barrani in Xaghra, this holiday home enjoys idyllic views over the valley and countryside.
Chris and I happened to come and view some new furnishings at Bezitt, one of our holiday farmhouse homes. I was surprised when the owner wandered around the back to a second farmhouse, apparently to check on a refurbishment project. We had no idea Bezitt had a sister property at all. Apparently, Sinjura had been used as a bed and breakfast until now. This was to become our lucky find of the day as we were told Sinjura would once again, become available for short term holiday guests! What a great, and unexpected find. A superb addition to our excellent collection of holiday homes, with character.
Walking into Sinjura gave me the same overwhelming feeling of “escapism” just as its sister, Bezitt does. You enter a rather regal reception room with light streaming in from the window.
Today, Signura retains every hall mark of its heritage as a traditional farmhouse. The charm and escapism continue throughout. Arches and walls carved out of local limestone give it masses of charm, character and beauty. Through the reception room and stone archway, we arrive in a combined living area – lounge, dining table and Kitchen.
Flanking the living space on two sides, is a continuous line of tall painted windows, letting in light and pretty countryside images. Terrace doors open onto an oasis of colour. A pool terrace with so much space and so many palm trees. My idea of Idyllic privacy. A secret haven.
Sinjura has a distinct regal feel, having been restored to its former glory. A magical holiday home where you can be on your own little island. This island is quite something else if you book it together with Bezitt for a large group or family occasion.
Don’t just take my word for it? Come and experience the full package of Gozo”. JULES
Ground Floor:
The Reception room of Sinjura makes a grand welcoming statement. With a desk, chairs and large widow, this room will make an excellent retreat from heat of the midday sun. A traditional dual aspect iron log burner sits between the Reception and hallway and provides a unique feature. Handy for cosy winter nights.
Through the hall you will find a large and brightly lit living space with settees to relax, surrounded by visible palm trees and expanse of countryside. A family dining table sits found before the terrace doors leading to the oasis outside.
The kitchen is adjacent to the dining area, finished in Mediterranean painted beige with matching marble work tops.
Turning left from the Reception room and along the hall you will find Bedroom One. This has a double bed with separate downstairs shower room.
Off the hall is a large contemporary glass door that reflects pretty images of the elegant wide limestone staircase to the first floor.
First Floor
On arriving at the first floor, more light streams in from two sets of double terrace doors with stretching countryside scenes. And guess what? Very conveniently, there is a stone roof terrace with enough space for a family gathering. On the other hand, it’s a great private retreat for soaking up the ambience.
On the same floor you will find Bedrooms 2 and 3. Step up to Bedroom 2 with Twin beds. A small door leads to a separate family bathroom.
Bedroom 3 is the “Master” bedroom and big enough to sleep a small army! Elegantly furnished with a feature mahogany double bed and complementary antique finished furniture. The en suite bathroom also has a large footprint. Views from this bedroom are fabulous.
Outdoors:
A large pool terrace surrounded by palm trees provides privacy and an idyllic setting. The pool size 4 metres X 6.7 metres.
There is plenty of your “own” space to find here. You can opt for sunbathing, relaxing on sunbeds, swimming, enjoying a long lunch or BBQ with dining furniture. Alternatively, take advantage of the feature stone table and benches. One added advantage. They don’t move in the wind
Additional:
Air conditioning is available in each of the bedrooms charged on a pay as you use basis (€ coins).
