Instantly, you are surrounded by beautiful panoramic views of Gozo’s countryside. On a clear day, you can see Sicily on one side and Malta on the other. As well as its elevated tranquil setting, it has substantial outside space for a house with only two bedrooms. Equally, I love the period style and elegance of the furnishings with antique dressers and exquisite drapes (my taste and not everyone’s). PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Ground Floor:
All accommodation is on the ground floor.
Pretty blue painted doors open into a large hall of distinct character. Both bedrooms are either side. A couple of stone stairs lead into Bedroom 1, a charming and spacious double bedroom with a large en-suite shower and bathroom. It includes a “his and “hers” sink. If you open the double wooden doors, picturesque views of the countryside stream in. Bedroom 2, opposite, is also spacious with two single beds and exquisite soft furnishings. A family shower room is in a separate adjacent room. Both rooms have ceiling fans.
The hallway leads through a stone archway to the living and dining area. Furnishings are elegant and comfortable – there is even a grand piano for a guest enthusiast. The kitchen is around the corner, well equipped and has a feature stone balcony.
OUTDOORS:
Blue painted doors open from the living area to the terrace which extends around the front of Ghar Ilma. Beautiful panoramic views of the countryside can be enjoyed from here sitting at a stone table with benches and barbecue.
The pool is located up a few stairs on an elevated level surrounded by pretty trees. It is a generous space with a large pool, particularly for four people. It is fully secluded and private.
LOCATION - SANTA LUCIA
Santa Lucia is a hamlet and suburb of Kercem. It takes its name from the old chapel dedicated to Saint Lucy dating back to 1575. Santa Lucia is a small and secluded village surrounded by glorious countryside where you will find many walks. The area is still one of the greenest on Gozo. Close by you will forget this rural feel as Victoria is minutes away (1.3km), either by car or bus. There are four bus stops in Saint Lucia and frequent hourly buses to Victoria where you can access the rest of the island by bus if desirable. Buses start at 5.42 and run until 10.42.
The nearest supermarket is on the road to Victoria and can be reached in 1 Km from the farmhouse. In Victoria itself you will find many cars, shops, cafés and restaurants.
The closest cafe, bar, and restaurant can be found in the Santa Lucia Boutique hotel, in 800m. Other cafes, restaurants and bars can be found in neighbouring San Lawrenz and Gharb in 2.8km.
In the nearby resort of Xlendi, in 3.2km, you will find a lively atmosphere and large choice of local eateries and bars. There is also a small beach, boat hire and is popular for swimming and diving.
NEARBY BEACHES
The farmhouse is a short drive from a number of beaches. Dwerja Bay is 4.6km. The stunning geography of the area was created thousands of years ago when two limestones collapsed, forming the Azure window. Although since collapsed into the sea, it featured in several films, including Clash of the Titans (1981). The site remains popular today, particularly with divers. Dwejra bay has dramatic seascapes and a rocky shoreline renowned for its geology, wildlife, and fascinating underwater scenery.
Head east for 5.6km and you will find Gozo’s second resort, Marsalforn. It has a small beach and several bays, including Qbajjar Bay Beach. The main bay is surrounded by cafes, bars and thriving restaurants.
