Description

Introducing Hanini by Jules

"There’s so much to love about Hanini. It starts the moment you enter this Gozo holiday home where the blend of local honey limestone and contemporary design is captivating.

Relaxing in the main living and dining areas – or snacking at the modern breakfast bar - is made all the more rewarding by the views across the pool to the countryside beyond. And I love the small stairway that leads to a second raised lounge with its excellent entertainment facilities and the opportunity to relax away from the feature living area.

There’s just as much thought gone into the outside as in. The private pool has a mature and tranquil garden beyond – a real rarity among Gozo holiday villa rentals. At the end of the garden you don’t just get to enjoy a BBQ; there’s a fridge there to keep your food and drinks cool too.

Ta Hanini sits on the outskirts of the rustic village of Qala. The village has seen an increase in restaurants and cafés serving local food and it’s close to some great swimming spots" - Jules.

LOCATION: Qala

Qala can be found in the eastern most edge of the Island. The name meaning 'port' most likely refers to the bay nearby and popular swimming area of Hondoq ir-Rummien. Stunning views across the sea to Malta and the tiny Island of Comino are a treat – best seen from the small courtyard of the church Il-Maddonna tal-Blat (Saint Mary of the Rocks). The ancient history of this settlement which dates back to the earliest time is also worthy of note (though the present settlement dates back to around the 1650s). Legend has it that the little church here was deliberately built facing neighbouring Island Comino enabling Comino's inhabitants to follow Holy Mass from across the sea if the seas were too rough for a priest to cross to them. As for Qala's shoreline aside for a few sheltered inlets (like Hondoq Ir-Rummien) the coast is largely rocky with several interesting caves. The prettiest of these is Ghar Minka which can only be accessed by boat. Qala village square has developed into a little haven of restaurants and bars that seems to extend every year. it has quite a lively local atmosphere - laid back of course.

You will find the square a 5-minute walk from Hanini.
