Description

Fibre Broadband with WiFi now available

El Cotillo is a small fishing village with two harbours, a good number and variety of restaurants and bars, a large supermarket two minutes away from the apartment and many other interesting shops.
To the north of the village are a variety of beaches and lagoons varying in size from “La Concha” beach with its large car park, beach café, toilets and showers to small secluded beaches with no facilities. The lagoons protect the beaches from the Atlantic swells making them easy to swim in.
To the south lie the “surfer beaches”, many large bays, exposed to the Atlantic swells and a paradise for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers. Lie on the beach and watch the action or join in. At the time of writing there are several windsurfing schools less that a minute from the apartment. For walkers there is a 5km coastal cliff top walk offering spectacular views of the ocean to the west and the hills and extinct volcanoes to the east.

The accommodation is a two-bedroom duplex apartment, facing south on the edge of El Cotillo overlooking the hills and extinct volcanoes and with views of the ocean.

The main entrance leads onto a very large terrace. This area is private, sheltered from the prevailing winds and ideal for sunbathing, alfresco dining and admiring the view.

Through a double door from the terrace is a living room with two large sofas, dining table, chairs, flat screen TV, DVD, radio, CD player, books, games etc.

How to get there

By air to Fuerteventura Airport. Most guests hire a car from the airport. Once clear of the airport it is a relaxing 45 minute drive over the hills and across the island, on almost deserted roads, to El Cotillo. However please watch the speed limits as the police are very strict. El Carmen is situated on the left, just as you enter El Cotillo and opposite the football ground. Turn left off the main road just past the supermarket and then turn right into the car park for the complex

Distances

El Cotillo is really a large village and just about everything is within walking distance. The main supermarket is only two minutes away, the nearest tapas and pizza restaurant less than a minutes walk from the apartment. There is a general store, selling almost everything you may need or forgot to pack, next to this restaurant. The village has a new part and an old part and is great to explore and boasts many restaurants, bars and cafes all an easy walk away.

Inland from El Cotillo the next main town is Lajares, which is 15 minutes by car, and is where a lot of ex pats have permanent residences. From Lajares you can go to La Oliva where a visit to the Colonels House is a must or you can go to Corralejo, which is the main tourist centre for north of the island. Where El Cotillo is quiet, Corralejo is busy although to the west of the main street is the old town which is charming. When we visit we park on Av. Juan Carlos 1 and walk along the promenade, trying out the exercise equipment, past the ferry port and stop at one of the cafes for a coffee and cake. Then back to the car through the old town.

Year property purchased: 2007, built in 2004.

Why El Cotillo and why Casa Eva?

We love the sun on holiday and have been to most European countries and their islands in search of it. The Canaries are a tourist destination all year round as it is sunny 12 months of the year. The Atlantic Ocean moderates the temperatures warming the island in the winter and cooling it in the summer. We started coming to the Canaries almost 20 years ago, initially to Lanzarote and then Fuerteventura. First to Corralejo when it was less busy and then to El Cotillo and we were hooked! The attraction of El Cotillo is that it is still a fishing village, it is still quite small yet because the beaches are so good and varied it is busy enough to support a good variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops.
For many years we rented and then, one year, we stayed in an apartment in El Carmen and were astounded by the space and quality of the duplex. We asked the agents if there were any for sale and at the time there were three. The layout of the apartments on the complex means that some of them are subject to shade on both terraces after midday, especially from October to March. We were advised to choose one that got all day sun which left two and we chose the sunny one, bought it and have never regretted it. We visit two to three times a year and for us it is a “home from home” a place to relax, meet old friends and catch up with the gossip.
Casa Eva is a great apartment to base your holiday. It is an easy 45 min drive from the airport or we can arrange to collect you if you decide not to rent a car. Our management team, who have been looking after guests to El Cotillo to their own exacting high standards for more than 15 years, will look after you. The apartment is well maintained and decorated to a high standard. Inside the rooms are large and outside two extensive private and sunny terraces expand the living space even further. It's a short walk to local shops, bakery, restaurants and bars. All this and you are only 5 mins by car (15 mins on foot) to some of Europe's finest beaches.

Great Apartment

By Roger Randall on 26-Jun-2019

We stayed here late June to early July 2019 and found the apartment to be comfortable, well furnished and well positioned. There are views over to the coast and the mountains, views that are unobstructed by anything! It is situated a short walk from a supermarket, and easy walk of all the multitude of restaurants in El Cotillo and has the benefit of lots of easy parking very close to hand. The apartment had all the fittings and equipment we needed and two nice sunbathing areas that are completely private. Booking arrangements were made through the couple who live locally, Gerhard and Lesley Zierl. and we found they were very efficient They apartment was spotless, the linen change was impeccable and all in all we were so satisfied that we have booked to go again in 2020. Can't say better than that!!

As good as ever

By Yvonne on 01-Jun-2019

We have stayed at this duplex many times and have always found it comfortable and equiped with everthing we need. The apartment is very spacious with two large private terraces, both shelterd from the wind, so ideal for sunbathing. The views from both terraces to the ocean and the extinct volcanoes are captivating. El Cotillo is a large fishing village with a good selection of bars and restaurants and a good supermarket a few steps from the duplex. Lesley, Gerhard and Jonathan look after us very well and they sort out most issues, if there are any, promptly and without fuss. We will be back again in October
