Description

THE SUMMARY
Casa Dryllig is a beautiful 3 bedroom villa with an extra large (12m x 6m) heated and floodlit pool. It is situated in a very peaceful location and within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. Located just 3km outside Calpe, our villa is a wonderful combination of peace and quiet, without being isolated from all the facilities you need for a successful villa holiday. Casa Dryllig is approximately 500m from the coast, and just 1km from the beach, promenade and its and many bars, restaurants and shops. We are about 3km from Calpe town centre.

The villa is very light and airy, with two double bedrooms (both 6ft super-king sized beds, 1 en-suite) and one twin room. We also provide a cot and a high chair at no extra charge for our smaller guests. Air conditioning (and heating) units are located in each bedroom and in the main living area, and this is included in the price. There is a large driveway at the front of the property, so secure parking is not a problem. The garden is completely enclosed so as long as the gate is locked, it is secure for younger children.

THE DETAIL
The modern kitchen with beautiful granite work surfaces has an induction hob, a combination oven (convection, grill and microwave), a dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. We provide a good selection of crockery, glasses, mugs and pots and pans. In addition, for larger parties, there is a second microwave/grill and a spare toaster and kettle, which can be brought out.

The dining area seats six, and there is also a high chair.

The lounge has a TV with Satellite reception which provides all main terrestrial channels, plus lots of news channels, a few movie channels, some kids channels and all radio stations. There is also a DVD player and the wi-Fi router is located here. We provide a plentiful stock of DVDs, CDs and books. We have a "flexible" library system: if you finish your book and wish to donate it, then we are grateful. If you would like to read and take one of the books already there, then you are welcome. We also provide a comprehensive information file with details of shops, restaurants, activities etc for the area.

As we regularly holiday with another couple, we have often come across the problem of finding accommodation with two decent double bedrooms, which is normally only an option in large (and generally expensive) properties. We decided to fill this gap by furnishing both the double bedrooms with 6ft super-king sized beds. We have had many comments about how comfortable these beds are. The main bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the other two bedrooms share a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. We have very good water pressure here, so a decent shower is always available.

When we bought our villa, it was on a completely bare plot, and that enabled us to make the exterior space exactly how we wanted. The "wow" factor of Casa Dryllig is the extra large heated and floodlit pool (at 12m long, it is nearly half the length of most leisure centre pools). Pool heating is included in the price from early April to the end of October (when appropriate), and is available at an extra cost of £150 per week during March and October. It is not available as an option from December to February inclusive.

The south facing terrace features three 'palapas' (rush topped sun shades), and 6 sun-beds with mattresses. There is an outdoor dining area and a barbecue. The outside utility room houses a washing machine, fridge/freezer, as well as a toilet and sink. While we cannot guarantee what is there, as it is constantly changing, there is always a selection of pool toys for your use (eg, spaghetti floats, floating chairs etc). If you fancy something different, there are many shops on the beach that sell pool toys.

While Casa Dryllig is not adapted for disabled visitors, it is not wheelchair unfriendly, as it is all on one level, with tiled floors throughout, and has just a few steps at each entrance. We have had three wheelchair parties holiday at Casa Dryllig so far, and they all said they managed well.

Casa Dryllig is located on a quiet lane, which is a no-through road, so there is very little passing traffic and the garden is very peaceful and secluded. A very short and easy walk away (a minute or two) there are two restaurants and a fabulous bar (Bar Grizzlys), and the nearest supermarkets are about 1km away, which makes a car advisable, but not vital.

We provide all bedding, and a change of sheets can be arranged at an extra cost. We also provide tea towels in the kitchen plus a bath towels and hand towel for each guest, but not beach towels. We do not specifically provide disposables like dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc, but work on a trust basis, where we ask our guests to top up supplies when they are getting low.

We pride ourselves on the level of service we provide in terms of information and responsiveness to our guests needs, and routinely ask for feedback after every visit. Virtually all our guests say that they would wish to holiday again at Casa Dryllig, and would recommend it to others. Some of our most regular guests have been every year since 2004.

Excellent villa

By Lorraine Smith on 28-Sep-2024

We had a great holiday at Casa Dryllig. The villa was impeccable in a great location. The heated pool was excellent. It was home from home. It was everything and more that we expect from a holiday. The owners communication from start to finish was excellent. Highly recommended!!

A wonderful family holiday!

By Richard Godsmark on 21-Sep-2024

As a family we enjoyed a great week at Casa Dryllig. The location was good, the villa was lovely but the pool really was the cherry on the cake – excellent! Communication with Heather was perfect before, during and after our holiday. The location offers the best of both worlds, being in a quiet cul-de-sac but only a 15-minute walk from the lovely sandy beaches and lively promenade of Calpe. The villa offers everything you could want or need for a wonderful stay. We have been renting villas in Spain for over 20 years and this is without doubt the biggest private heated pool we have seen. We are very much looking forward to returning to Casa Dryllig again next year 😊

Perfect Spanish retreat

By Liz on 20-Jul-2024

Casa Dryllig is a well equipped, comfortable holiday home with an amazing outdoor space and pool. It's so peaceful yet everything is close enough for comfort. We will definitely be looking to come back. Couldn't wish for a better host either.

Hi Liz and Mark Thank you so much for leaving me a comprehensive 5* review. It is such a shame that your holiday was cut short due to flight issues, but I hope to welcome you again at some point when all your travel is smooth and uneventful. KR, Heather.

What a lovely Villa

By Tom Graham on 06-Jan-2024

We have just spent 10 weeks at Casa Dryllig. The Villa is in an excellent location, close to three restaurants and two supermarkets. The sea is also close by. The villa itself is very well appointed with a recently refurbished kitchen. The pool is the largest we have experienced although unfortunately we didn’t use it. The owner Heather was in regular contact and a great help. There is detailed information in the villa regarding the villa itself, local restaurants and the local area. I have no hesitation recommending Casa Dryllig to future holidaymakers.

Just sublime!

By Ruth and David on 16-Sep-2023

We had the most wonderful stay at Casa dryligg, it is fabulous for families as we stayed the first week with our daughter, son in law and 2 year old grandson, then we had the second week on our own ( bliss) . The villa is very well equipped with all home from home mod cons. The pool is just fabulous with lots of inflatable toys to keep the kids of all ages amused! We used the barbecue a few times, great seating area. There are a couple of restaurants within a short walk, Grizzlies was the best, but you do have to book as it gets very busy. We didn’t try the Japanese restaurant as they wanted to charge €8 for a two year old who would eat of our plates. The Italian very good too Calpe is a short drive away and so are supermarkets, Lidls wine is far better and cheaper than what we get in the UK. All in all we loved it and have booked a return trip for next year
