Description
Large three bedroom villa suitable for 4-6 or 6-8 guests
Lazy Acre is a beautiful private villa set in an acre-wide olive grove on the edge of Agios Ioannis, it was our family home until we returned back to the UK 9 years ago.
The villa is surrounded by flowers and fruit trees, it's very private and isn't overlooked at all. The whole point of staying in a place like Lazy Acre is that you shouldn't feel compelled to do anything at all but if you do fancy a change of scenery the villa's central location makes it easy to get out and about to explore the stunning coastline and the pretty villages where life doesn't appear to change.
Kids will love the pool and the nearby water park ''Aqualand'' that's just minutes away by car. Teenagers will probably appreciate the lively atmosphere in Gouvia less than 5 kms away. The nearest place to eat is Taverna Paradiso just a few minutes on foot, we love it here the food is mainly grilled meats fresh salads and various dips but they also do a number of pasta dishes.
Lazy Acre is spacious, homely and well laid out over 2 floors. You enter the villa into the large open plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen is well equipped and although barely needed there is a fire place for the cooler evenings in low season. Also on this level are 2 of the 3 bedrooms 1 with 2 single beds and the other with a king size bed, both with balconies and a shared bathroom. From the open plan kitchen/diner there is a lovely pool-facing balcony which is perfect for relaxing any time day or evening, when we holiday at the villa we love to sit and have drinks here especially early evening. The spiral staircase leads up to the top floor, here is a spacious living room with ample seating and a large sofa bed suitable for two adults, UK TV is also available. There is a separate bedroom on this floor with a double bed and ensuite shower and toilet.
Cots and a high chair available.
Depending on what time you arrive you may be welcomed by the lovely Aresti - her and her husband Alkis maintain the villa, the gardens and the pool area. They live in a completely self contained apartment beneath the villa. Their presence is discrete however should you need any help with anything or any suggestions of places and things to do Aresti speaks English and will be happy to help, but is never intrusive.
Getting to the villa - Car hire is strongly recommended.
The airport is only 20 minutes south of the property, which means that you will arrive at the Villa quickly, unstressed and very probably without requiring the assistance of a map (we do send driving instructions nearer the time). Anyone wishing to enjoy the bars and clubs of Gouvia can safely get back to the villa by taxi in under 10 minutes. In the villa there is an information book about all the nearest beaches and local amenities.
There is a generous and varied selection of restaurants in the area to suit every occasion. No need either to leave your golf clubs at home as the Golf Course is also 10 minutes away and especially delightful out of high season.
The nearest village is Agios Ioannis. Here you will find a charming square with an outdoor tavernas and is a popular place, frequented by locals and "in the know visitors". There is an excellent pizzeria and a top notch Souvlaki/Pitt shop. There are some local bars that show the football but this is an authentic Greek village not a resort so expect a warm welcome and to pay "local" not inflated tourist prices. Even Corfu Town is only a 15 - 20 minute drive away. * Car hire is highly recommended in order to get the most out of your holiday. If you wish, we can gladly help you with these arrangements. There is a bus stop at the end of the road that takes you into the middle of Corfu Town if you want to leave the car behind.
*Hot Tub is available during the low season April/May/October/November- Please check with us if it will be available
