Casa Duchi is a beautiful rustic farmhouse or ‘Casa Colonica’ which stands well in two acres of part woodland and part cultivated terraced garden.

The house and garden offer a wonderful place to enjoy the many sights & sounds of Umbria and the opportunity to switch off from the fast pace of everyday life. The house enjoys a completely secluded, yet not isolated, setting with great views up the Cortona valley. Less than 5 minutes away by car you will find the small village of Calzolaro and within 10 minutes Trestina, which has a great choice of local shops, supermarkets and local produce and several good restaurants. The small market town of Città di Castello is a 15 minute drive away and has a great Saturday market and several good places to eat.

Casa Duchi is a much-loved family home, which we visit in all seasons. It is a perfect home for a family looking to enjoy lovely lazy days and summer evenings to the sound of nightingales, crickets, owls and frogs, with the knowledge that you are only a small drive away from your next discovery; a small wine town or a walled city surrounded by rolling hills.

The garden and surrounding countryside are perfect for those fond of nature. Wisteria, jasmine, passion flower, lavender, rosemary and roses are amongst the many wonderful plants scenting the garden. A small orchard in front of the house also offers seasonal fruit in the spring and summer months

Up above the house, on the top terrace, we have planted an olive grove. Birdsong abounds and a wonderful variety of butterflies, bees, insects, lizards and fireflies (June/July) provide entertaining company in the garden. The surrounding fields grow tobacco, sunflowers and sweetcorn rotating each year.

The house is well equipped and sleeps 6 people comfortably in three double bedrooms rooms. It is also possible to cater for two more people in inflatable beds. In addition, two cots are available for small children. The house is spacious and ideal for families with children. There is no television but there is a good choice of games including table tennis, bar football and table/ board games.

In the house there is one bedroom on the ground floor with two single beds, a large bedroom room on the first floor with double bed and a third bedroom on the upper level also with a double bed.

The sun heats the pool, situated at the back of the house, from early in the morning until late in the day and there is a shady spot at the far end of the pool.

The apartment is suitable for 2 people and is on the ground floor with its own entrance and terrace under a pergola. Both the house and apartment are available to rent separately from June to July inclusive.

Central Umbria is still unspoilt and is home to the friendliest, more courteous and charming people we have ever met. This is a very special community where families, mostly agricultural, have grown up together and most have never moved away.

You will find that Umbria is a place dotted with small architectural marvels still inhabited by their people and nature integrates with the history that surrounds it. It is also the place where we hope you will find as many enjoyable memories as we have had.
