This is a stunning Villa in Tuscany set nearly 2000ft up in the mountains; the views have to be seen to be truly believed. The garden space is breathtakingly expansive and you can quite happily spend a full day in it moving from point to point following the path of the sun. The Villa was far larger than we expected and is full of 17th century rustic Italian charm, we thoroughly enjoyed preparing Italian food in its traditional kitchen whilst sipping amazing Italian red wine. It goes without saying that everything is immaculate and clean and the large walk-in showers felt luxurious. Leonardo and Federico could not have been more hospitable. I managed to get a flat tyre on our second day here and Leonardo took me to the mechanic the next day. Leonardo and Federico also picked us up late one night in Barga so we could enjoy the wine on offer (do you get that we like wine!?) Furthermore they were communicative throughout our whole time here and absolutely nothing is a problem for them. We are already planning our return, we strongly recommend you book this place, you won’t want to leave!
What an amazing house an garden is villa la Penna. We stayed here two weeks and we enjoyed it every minute. The apartment has a lot of space and the garden, pool and landscape are the best you can imagine. There is one small problem, the house is in an mediaval town and a normal car cannot reach the house. The owners of the house are so friendly and they help you with their small town car to bring over you r luggage and are always willing to help you out withe any problem.. We recommend this house with the best rating possible. We had a small dog with us and he could walk around te garden as he liked. We will surely return one day to enjoy this peaceful house again
The owners were subltly helpful and very welcoming. The pool was perfect and cool even when the temperature was 38. The views from everywhere in the garden were simply breathtaking
Words cannot describe the beauty of this villa and it''s surroundings. The view from the north room was spectacular with french doors that opened to reveal an immaculate swimming pool, the mountains in the distance, and the local residents hanging out their laundry and singing to the radio each morning. The villa has the best of modern plumbing and kitchen fixtures (unlike many old buildings in Europe), with the best of the rustic which gives you the feel of living like a prince or princess centuries ago. The pictures on the site do not do it justice. There are a few things to consider if traveling with couples. The first floor of the villa is what you are renting which consists of two bedrooms with bathrooms, two sitting or living rooms and a kitchen. All rooms are connected by a door but you will need to go outside to go from the north bedroom to the kitchen or sitting rooms without disturbing anyone in the middle bedroom. This was not a problem for us but something to consider depending on your travel companions. This villa is situated far north of other Tuscan sights. We took two days and traveled to Venice and a day in Cortona and a day in Florence. If we had it to do over again we would have spent 4 nights at the Villa in order to travel to Cinque Terre and Lucca and then possibly a villa in Florence to take in the sights there and Cortona-Siena. I will say that the most enjoyable day that we spent was the day devoted to Coreglia Antelminelli. The restaurant L''Arcile was wonderful as were both of the bars. When you see bar in Italy, think Starbucks with alcohol.
