Description

Beautiful villa in a very peaceful location on the south coast of Menorca. Private pool in a lovely garden. Ample sea views from the roof terrace. In walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants, bars and Xoroi caves. Owner's dream home, tastefully decorated with a homely feel to it.

Four air-conditioning units, comfortable lounge with large TV, classy dining room with french windows giving onto the pool and garden with sea views, very large kitchen with all you need, back terrace with swing sofa, dining table and barbecue. Lovely garden surrounded by high walls for intimacy. Two double bedrooms, two children's rooms.

Cala en Porter is a popular, yet tranquil resort based by a beautiful beach at the bottom of a cliff-lined cove. It is ideal for families and for couples and many holiday makers return year after year.

The beach is very safe for children. There are sun loungers , sun umbrellas and pedalos available for hire. There are several companies offering kayak tours along the cave packed coast line or direct hire of kayaks. Boat hire is also available. by the side of the beach are a couple of bar-restaurants.

In the centre, ten minutes walk away, there are numerous restaurants and bars, several of them offering a variety of live music entertainment.

The Caves of Xoroi, an extraordinary bar-discoteque in a cave half way down the cliffs above the sea is less than ten minutes walk and yet is completely out of earshot owing to its location.

Within walking distance are Cales Coves, another beautiful cove known for its numerous prehistoric caves.

A 15 minute drive or a 25 minute bus ride away is the capital Mahón, famous for its magnificent port guarded by fortresses and defence towers. You can go on boat trips around the port, there is an open air market two or three times a week and in the summer an evening handicraft market with live music in the streets.

One of the great attractions of Menorca is that it has remained unspoilt. The whole island is a Biosphere Reserve and 68% of the island is protected. It is great for walking in Spring and Autumn.

In 2023 the prehistoric heritage of the island was declared a World Heritage Site for its numerous and unique monuments.

Menorca has also been declared a "Destination Starlight" for its clear skies, great for stargazing.

Probably most holiday makers who come to stay with us don't hire a car. However with a car you can explore this fascinating island. As it is small there is nowhere more than an hour's drive away. However for a small island menorca has a tremendous diversity. The northern half is completely different to the southern side of the island. The old capital Ciutadella is a very elegant city with an aristocratic and medieval flavour to it, completely different to the present day capital.

By car you can enjoy the panoramic views from Monte Toro, go to the fishing villages of Fornells and Binibequer and visit the prehistoric sites or old fortresses.

There are many unspoilt beaches, including several which have been named amongst the most beautiful beaches in the world. To visit these beaches you will need a car and will often have to walk as well.

Fantastic family villa

By Andrew M. on 03-Oct-2019

10/10 Excellent Andrew M. 3 Oct 2019 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy The house is absolutely beautiful, and perfect for a relaxing family holiday. Loads of space and the garden is such a lovely space. The town centre is a 10 minute walk and has a supermarket that delivers for free, there are numerous bars and restaurants that cater to British tourists, it’s not quite an authentic Spanish experience. However, the capital of Mahon is far more cosmopolitan and had a brilliant port with great boat trips. I would recommend renting a car (which was super easy and worked out at about 30 euros a day from Bini cars) and visiting the amazing beaches that Menorca has to offer. The local beach is amazing and super kid friendly, and the beaches of Cala Galdana are a 25 minute drive away which is wonderfully tree lined. All in all a great holiday, we were lucky to have a chat with Francis about the island and Menorca one night. I would asbsolutely recommend this villa for your next stay.

The grill and outdoor eating area are perfect and the location is very quiet but still close enough to the town and beach to walk to. Lovely villa with fantastic outdoor space

By Paul M. on 02-Jul-2019

10/10 Excellent Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy A real home away from home with all the amenities we needed for our stay. The villa has a fantastic outdoor space with pool, garden, bbq and dining area. Francis was a pleasure to deal with over email and when we arrived. He was very helpful with recommendations and was on hand if any issues arose (not that any did). Would definitely recommend to friends/family and would love to stay again. Stayed 7 nights in Jun 2019 Response from VrboOwner Many thanks for the review. The "home away from home" feel is what we hope to provide. We're happy you enjoyed the villa and garden. It was a pleasure to meet you too and hopefully we'll see you again.

Lovely villa with a personal touch

By James S., Leicester on 11-Jun-2019

10/10 Excellent Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy We stayed here for a week; four adults and two young children. When we arrived we had a warm welcome and the villa was absolutely spotless. Things that set this villa apart from others: • We dealt directly with the owners face-to-face; it was nice to meet them in person after contact through email. They have an obvious deep love of the villa which shows through the attention to detail. • Other villas don’t have the personal touch of this one. All the pictures, ornaments, together with standard of kitchen make it feel so homely. • The outside space is something else. What attracted us to it was not a soulless tiled area with a pool, but a space filled with plants, flowers and trees. The smell when we stepped into the garden was amazing. It’s also a haven for wildlife which we particularly enjoyed. If we returned to Menorca and Cala En Porter, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
