Description
Casa Soto VerdeCCAA license number VUT/AL/00830
Situated in the foothills of the Cabrera mountains Soto Verde occupies an elevated position with fabulous views over a lush and green valley towards the distant Sierra Nevada mountains. The villa also overlooks a fertile valley with beautiful orange and lemon groves. The walls that surround the villa include around half an acre of Mediterranean gardens with orange, lemon and grapefruit trees which provide privacy as well as some shaded areas to shelter from the hot Andalusian sun.
The property is accessed via a gate opening into a very adequate parking area, with large car-port. A rustic path climbs a few paces to the pool, with plenty of sun loungers and a table and chairs. The pretty pool is fully illuminated at night making it ideal for evening parties. The path then continues through the gardens and up to the house.
The villa itself is roomy, cool in the summer and fully equipped making it ideal for a families and couples alike. There is a shaded area for alfresco dining, leading to the large BBQ area at the rear. Across the front of the house there is a sun-terrace with incredible views to the far side of the valley.
Three modern air-con units keep the villa cool in the summer and warm in winter and there is an excellent fan-assisted log burning fire for our winter and Christmas guests (complementary logs provided)
We have full English TV with catch up, free WiFi and an array of approximately 200 books for your entertainment. There is a charming bar/restaurant within easy walking distance with children and pets are very welcome.
The lovely traditional Spanish town of Turre is only a 10 minute drive with plenty of good bars and restaurants as well as supermarkets and other shops. A further few minutes takes you to Mojacar Pueblo; a beautiful white hill top village and onward to Mojacar Playa; a two mile sandy beach. Both the town and the beach have plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.

Leave ReviewLong stay in January, February and March 2025
By Rob en Jeannette on 10-Jan-2025Villa Soto Verde was a great place for us to spend the winter. We walked the extensive golf course with our dog every day, the entrance to which is close to the villa. The terrain is fenced off so that the dog can never leave. The garden of the house is also completely fenced and here too the dog can't leave and play nicely. By the way, you can also take fantastic and spectacular walks in the area. The villa itself was also very nice, with enough wood to use the logburner in the evening. The beds were fine and the kitchen is very generously stocked with cutlery and crockery so that the dishwasher only needs to be turned on when it is fully loaded. The new refrigerator and oven work well. Excellent television and internet and with our own Chrome Cast we could continue to follow all our own favorite programs. As for the restaurants in El Cortijo Grande, we visited once the Restaurant Almazara. We had a good meal there, but not very special and expensive by Spanish standards. Very Spanish inside and nice service. We have been to Casa Los Pinos more often. Simple menu but always very tasty food and cozy. Making a reservation in advance are recommended. Contact with the owner was always quick and pleasant and we would like to thank Malcolm and Denise repeatedly for the trust they have placed in us. Kind regards, Rob and Jeannette
Perfect peaceful holiday in beautiful surroundings.
By Georgie on 20-Dec-2024A perfect Christmas holiday in a beautiful authentic villa. The villa is very spacious and carefully decorated, a true home from home, with every amenity you could possibly need. A lovely fire which was so cosy and warm, perfect for when the sun went down as the temperature dropped. The hosts left more than enough logs for our entire stay. Malcolm was the perfect host always really quick to respond to any questions we had and even allowed us to extend our stay. The villa has numerous outside sitting areas to enjoy the local wildlife, there was a bbq which we did take advantage of, with a supply of briquettes and fire lighters for our use. The bathrooms are really modern and the beds super comfy. A really thoughtful touch was a supply of basic food items, including bread, wine, water, cheese, ham, bacon, cakes etc. This really was appreciated. The villa itself is set in a really quiet location, however only 10 minutes from Turre and 20 minutes from Mojacar. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the villa to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.
A week in the Cabrera Hills
By michael s. on 23-Sep-2024Lovely week away in a scenic and tranquil location close to amenities but secluded enough to relax and enjoy nature and the Spanish late summer weather. The villa was excellent and is very well equipped. It is well set out with lots of seating and eating places. The pool is clean and just right with plenty of space to relax whether in the sun or shade. Host was very helpful and friendly.
wonderful villa in fantastic location
By Lucinda M on 03-Sep-2024Highly recommend a stay in this villa in the mountains. The villa was clean and generously stocked with some basic food stuffs on arrival. It also doesn't get too hot and even in August we barely had to use the aircon. It is not far from the coast and so provides an ideal location from which to explore the coastline all the way down to Almería and Cabo de Gata. But also, you can get away from everything by simply relaxing in the villa/by the pool and enjoying the mountain views. Hosts are super responsive to any email queries and we appreciated their kindness. Thank you!
Gorgeous villa and setting
By Tracy & Paul on 21-Jul-2024Stayed for 3 weeks in July/August. Communication with Malcolm and Denise was first class. The villa was definitely the nicest one we’ve stayed at for a long time. It was very clean, well equipped, comfortable beds (should never be taken for granted!) and a fab location. Definitely need a car but would never get tired of the fantastic views of the mountains - and the goats were an added bonus! The nearby bar and restaurant in Sierra Cabrera are well worth visiting. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back soon hopefully!
Soto Verde Easter break 2024
By Stevie Firth on 25-Mar-2024We booked a weeks break around Easter in this lovely villa close to our flight plans and places we wanted to visit. Having stayed previously in a city centre we were looking forward to some rural peace and quiet and that's exactly what we got. Excellent communication with the owners during the booking process and prior to the stay made the check in really easy and hassle free. Beautiful villa situated in a mountain valley away from it all but not too distant from things to do and places to see. The villa itself was well maintained and spotlessly clean on our arrival and very welcoming. Any information we needed was either in the forwarded emails from the owners or just an email away. We used the villa with its lovely cooking and eating facilities as a base to explore the region from mountains to coast all just a half hour drive from home. The bed was very comfortable for us and it felt like a home away from home the whole time. It was essential to have a hire car for this property as it was a drive away from supermarkets , shops and restaurants. There was a bar restaurant in walking distance but we never visited it. We had a fantastic relaxing time in the villa and although the weather played a part in our activities at times we had a brilliant stay and wont hesitate to return at some point in the future.
