We stayed at Top House for 4 weeks during September & absolutely loved it. Beautiful views & a fantastic pool kept us very happy. A local restaurant called Hoots was used regularly & other restaurants are a short drive down the mountain. Local beaches we found were excellent too. Our hosts, Carola & Oz, were nearby if we needed them & such a lovely couple. The welcome pack was the best & much appreciated. We look forward to returning to Top House 😊
Top House is a delightful holiday home set high above and looking down to the Mediterranean. Indeed, a path into the mountains is just a little further up beyond the villa. It is a one-off design, not a standard plan and elevation on a development of ten other identical villas. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and remarkably well equipped. No one mug per person here! Pots, dishes and casserole dishes abound. The outdoor verandah, formed from the overhanging eves, gives a delightful, almost Roman feel with the stone pillars, and does, of course, provide welcome shade. The swimming pool and surrounding area are well set out and charming. Ilgaz itself is a quiet village with unusually good amenities for the holidaymaker. The nearby ‘Hoots’ is easy, convenient and friendly, providing excellent small restaurant Cypriot food. Its Adana Kebab is perfect! A little further down is a ‘breakfast café’ providing an amazing and large Cypriot breakfast which is not to be missed. Beyond this a vineyard with wine tastings and ‘up market’ restaurant (and a small new pizza place as well). The hosts live close-by and are ever so friendly and helpful.
Top House really exceeded our expectations, and the photos just don’t do it justice. A beautiful, very spacious villa in lovely gardens, and the pool area is fantastic . The welcome pack had everything we needed and more and the villa was equipped to a very high standard. There were plenty of towels including beach and pool towels and an abundance of sun loungers. There are chairs and tables all around the villa in little groups away from the pool for a bit of quiet time away from the joyous screeching of the children in the pool! The air conditioning was great, we only used it at bedtime to cool the bedrooms. There are good restaurants and cafes within walking distance, we tried them all several times! Kyrenia is only a 10 mins drive away and there are great supermarkets on the main road, again 10 min drive away. We hired a car for a few days to experience the towns and countryside further afield although we would have been quite happy ensconced at the villa for the whole week! Thank you Carola & Oz, what amazing hosts, we had a great time and will definitely be back!
