Description

"Lobster Pot Cottage" is situated in the historic old town of Whitby, just a short stroll from the colourful harbour overlooking and almost protected by the abbey ruins. Famed for its connections with Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker's Dracula, Whitby is a bustling seaside town steeped in history and boasting a 3 mile stretch of award winning sandy beaches, cobbled streets, ginnels and alleyways lined with antique and curio shops, inns and tea rooms serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine.

Impressive ships such as The Grand Turk and the Endeavour replica often visit the port. Fishing trips and the stunning Pannet Park home to the Cook Museum are all on your doorstep. Step back in time as you visit the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay untouched by the hands of time and a must when visiting this area. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is a 10 minute drive where cycle tracks and bridle paths lead to pretty little villages tucked away deep in the valleys, or take a more leisurely journey through the glorious Esk Valley into ’Heartbeat's’ very own village of Goathland on board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train.

An 18-hole golf course, crazy golf, boating, go-carting and paddling pool are all available on the west cliff. Within easy access to the market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley. Shop 20 yards, pub 50 yards. Lobster Pot Cottage has two double bedrooms - both en-suite - and a twin bedroom situated next to the house bathroom with wc, bath and shower. There is also a separate downstairs wc. A high quality travel cot and high chair are also available. Outside, there is a small rear courtyard with garden furniture and potted plants and, rare for Whitby, there is private parking for one car. Regrettably, we do not accept pets.

Love this cottage, so conveniently situated too!

By Jeanette R. on 25-Jan-2017

We have stayed at Lobster Pot Cottage twice now for winter weekends with friends , 6 of us in total. Each time we have found the cottage to be of a high standard, layout is fantastic for 6 adults, its clean and has all that we needed and more in the kitchen. All lovely clean bed linen and towels provided. The cottage location is brilliant too, right in the centre of Whitby,so no need to use the car at all. The free car parking space is a real help. The owner, David, could not have been more helpful in providing all the information required before arriving at the cottage. My friends and I will certainly be booking again in the future and I have no hesitation at all in recommending Lobster Pot cottage to all my friends and family.

Fantastic Location

By Ruth, East Midlands on 17-Jan-2017

We stayed at Lobster Pot Cottage for 5 days before Christmas. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 children, We found the central location of the cottage perfect for exploring the sights of Whitby, with the added bonus of a parking space. It was very well equipped benefiting from 3 bathrooms, and 3 very comfortable bedrooms. Unlimited Wifi to keep the children happy, puzzles games and plenty of tourist information to hand. The communication with the owners prior to and during our stay was faultless. We would definitely recommend this cottage, and we look forward to staying here again.

A lovely cottage, great location

By Darren H. on 05-Apr-2016

We had a lovely family stay at Lobster Pot Cottage. The location is brilliant & close to the shops & restaurants. There is also a parking space allocated to the cottage which is great. The booking process is faultless & the owners are really nice to deal with. We visit Whitby at least two times a year & would certainly love to stay at Lobster Pot Cottage again.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities

By Patrucua H. on 23-Feb-2016

This cottage is perfect for a family visit to Whitby. It is very well equipped and in a prime location with easy access to the town including the Magpie, a must for every visit. On arrival the house was warm, spotlessly clean and there was a nice welcome package waiting for us, including a bottle of wine. Beds are very comfortable with good showering facilities. Great property and we will definitely be booking again.

Beautiful Cottage - perfect location !

We stayed at the Lobster Pot Cottage for three nights and what a beautiful cottage it is. A little bit like a Tardis - so much room inside!! As we were staying with family and friends it was great to have our own bathrooms for that extra privacy - three separate bathrooms. We lost out on the 'Penthouse Suite' to my Sister as she saw it first - but all bedrooms are equally beautifully decorated and every little detail thought of. It was an extra bonus to have towels provided as we actually forgot ours. The cottage has every appliance you could think of and all are of the highest standard. All cleaning equipment was provided and was of course spotlessly clean when we arrived. Don't worry about being cold - far from it! The heating was on when we arrived and if anything we had to turn it down - albeit the weather wasn't too bad when we arrived but it was nice to walk into a lovely warm cottage. So position....................... bang smack in the middle of Whitby! Close to everything so no need to list all as you couldn't get a better position. We did the Cinder Track walk from Whitby to Robin Hoods bay which I would recommend - a nice steady 6.5 mile . A very easy walk along an old used train track - with a nice pint of the amber nectar when we arrived in Robin Hoods Bay. I don't normally like to post reviews as it means that everyone gets to find out about little gems like these - however it does seem a little bit mean to the owners not to write how lovely this cottage is so hope you find my review helpful. We are already looking at next year so we can get in early............ Enjoy!!
