Description

In the heart of the smallest city in England, a few minutes walk from all amenities, this pretty, period, welcoming, Georgian house offers an ideal base for sampling the delights of Wells, for absorbing the historic atmosphere. and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Unusually for a city property it has a lovely, peaceful, mature garden.

It is a pretty house with character, in a street where all the houses are similarly interesting. It has a lovely, light dining room with glass door that overlooks the garden where there is a table and chairs. The kitchen is modern, well equipped with wooden work surfaces and slate floor. The sitting room is extremely spacious, warm and comfortable with a wood burning stove TV/DVD and video library. The house is lit well with thoughtful decoration. The main bedroom is very pretty and light with a recently installed king size bed. The house has a wood burner stove and central heating and is warm and cosy in the winter. The WI-FI is very good and there is a range of books, DVDs games and magazines for the quiet days! During fine weather it's possible to sit outside in the pretty, secluded garden and forgot you're in the town centre!

Apart from the magnificent cathedral (housing one of the earliest mechanical clocks in existence and Vicars Close-the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe). Wells is a beautiful market town offering a range of cafes/bars/pubs/restaurants and some lovely shops. Wells itself is within easy reach of Bristol, Bath and the limestone based Mendip Hills-offering attractions such as Bristol Zoo, the haunted Wookey Hole Caves, Clarks Village, The Roman Baths, Cheddar Gorge, the SS Great Britian, Clifton Suspension Bridge, fantastic shopping and so much more!

Further details indoors
There are two bedrooms, the double bedroom is a lovely light room with two Georgian windows and a kingsize bed with cream iron bedstead, the second bedroom has twin wooden beds. Both rooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished. The bathroom is upstairs and has a bath and overhead shower.

Fantastisch

By Susanst898 on 20-Jan-2019

A lovely gem of a place

By The Bedford, Weymouth on 06-Oct-2018

We spent a great three days in Wells, helped by the stay in this lovely cottage. Clean, warm and with everything needed for a few days stay. The Green House is just a few minutes walk away from the centre of Wells and with lots of places to eat/takeaways/pubs etc close by. We loved walking round the city and hearing music streaming out of windows of the school buildings as the pupils practised various instruments. The Bishops Palace gardens were delightful to walk around and we caught the Wednesday market . It was great to find a traditional English market selling local farmers produce as well as bags, crockery, carpets, books, plants and all sorts!

A Lovely Week

By Tallpines, Colorade on 14-Apr-2018

Must agree with all the positive reviews! The house is lovely, light and airy, with good-sized rooms. It was very quiet for restful nights. Everything is sparkling clean and worked perfectly: plenty of hot water, fast WiFi, comfy beds with nice linens, good lighting. We especially liked The Good Earth restaurant almost across the street. We appreciated the prompt and friendly communications with the owner. It was nice to be able to simply pay by credit card. We did not cook much, but the kitchen was very well supplied with a good oven, cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher. There is also a washer and I think a dryer which we did not have time to use. Decor is very pretty and there are many thoughtful touches, like books, games, videos, even toys for children. We drove to many nearby sights and always found a parking space in the next street when we returned at the end of the day. Wells is a lovely town with a beautiful cathedral. It is a pleasure to be able to stroll through town like a local. We hope to return!
