Description

Our lovely holiday house Pendeen offers plenty of space for a family to relax in, a pretty enclosed garden and provides parking for two cars. The lively town of Wadebridge is the perfect location from which to explore the stunning and dramatic North Cornwall coastline and within a short drive you have a choice of seven or eight sandy beaches, miles of rugged coastal footpath or the evocative Bodmin Moor. The popular destinations of Newquay, Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac (home to Doc Martin) are easily reached by car, public transport or even bicycle! Wadebridge offers a wide selection of independent shops, boutiques, restaurants, public houses and a cinema. A children’s park is within easy walking distance. The town is at the heart of the famous Camel Cycle Trail which links, via wonderful, traffic-free scenery, Bodmin Moor to the coast at Padstow. Relax in our pretty and secluded garden after a day on the beach or curl up in our cosy lounge after a bracing coastal walk. Short breaks are available.

We are sorry, but because we have pet fur allergies in our family, we cannot accept dogs.

On the ground floor Pendeen has a well-equipped family kitchen and separate dining room, a lounge with television, DVD and WiFi. There is also a twin room, bunk room with adult-sized beds and a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Upstairs there is a double room with en-suite shower room. Outside we have paved parking for two cars and a sheltered garden with table, chairs and barbeque.

When we first started visiting Cornwall we visited Daymer Bay, the perfect place for holidays with little children – lovely sand, shallow sea, a stream for damming and plenty of rock pools at low tide. But as our family grew older we needed a base with more choices and Pendeen Cottage provided the perfect place. From Wadebridge we discovered it was a quick drive to Harlyn and Watergate for surfing, we could launch our kayak and paddle up or down stream and we could use the beautiful Camel Cycle Trail to explore Cornwall’s lovely inland scenery. As we live in a village at home, staying in a small town has also proved a novelty especially as there are independent shops offering a variety of local produce and plenty of pretty things to look at – and even a cinema within walking distance for those days with less than perfect weather!

Wadebridge is only a 30 minute car journey from Fowey and Newquay, it takes about 45 minutes to drive to Truro and about an hour to St Ives or Falmouth. For those that don’t want to drive buses leave in all directions from the main street. Our garden is private, secure and sheltered - there’s nothing better than taking your breakfast outside or eating a cream tea in the garden after a hard day on the beach. The house itself is big enough to accommodate a family but not so large that a couple is lost in it – we hope that you enjoy staying there as much as we do.

We loved our stay at Pendeen

By Sara on 24-Oct-2023

It is a really well equipped house, with everything you need for cooking at home etc, comfy beds, and a dining room which I used to work in , with excellent WiFi.The house is beautifully clean and being able to have some heating on for the chillier evenings was a bonus! A short walk into town was great, and we can recommend The Stepping Stone restaurant particularly. We hope to come back in the future.

"Very comfortable, well equipped, clean property." Ideal location, just a short walk from centre of Wadebridge which has numerous places to eat and drink and lovely individual shops. We enjoyed our stay at Pendeen very much. Thank you

"Another fine stay."

"Another fine stay."

"This was the second time we stayed at Pendeen and once again we really enjoyed it."

The cottage is well equipped and spacious, the three bedrooms allowing my son and daughter to have their own private space. Dining spaces in the kitchen for a quick breakfast and dining room for a long relaxed evening meal is a great feature. The location close to the centre of Wadebridge is excellent for us, being less busy than the coastal villages, and easy to get out and about. The cottage is a short walk from the park which the children enjoy and also the local shops. The coop is close and useful but I thoroughly recommend the independent shops. We had amazing local Scallops and Mussels from the Fishmonger, beef from the butchers and bread from the bakers. Going further, Pendeen is handy for the Camel trail, a great way to get to Padstow with it’s beautiful harbour and great restaurants downstream, and woodlands to Bodmin and Wenfordbridge upstream. Be sure to stop at the cafe for a cream tea or Camel Valley fizz. There are many great bits of coastline less than 30 mins drive away. We enjoyed both the bustling beach at Polzeath and the quieter coastal walks around Lundy and Port Quin. Thoroughly recommend!

"Really enjoyed Pendeen."

It is well appointed, presented, and very clean. We enjoyed being in Wadebridge and felt it was better than being in the tourist ''hustle and bustle''. It was also easy to access the rest of Cornwall If offers very good value and we would not hesitate to stay there again

"The location of the house was ideal

By Mrs E on 22-Aug-2021

"The location of the house was ideal for us as it was just a couple of minutes walk into Wadebridge (which is a lovely small town) and we were also able to cycle on the Camel Trail - it was an easy flat route along to Padstow." The house had everything we needed and though the decor/kitchen was a little dated, for a holiday home it provided a comfortable stay and there was plenty of storage space! The garden was private and sunny. There were several beaches within 10-15 minutes drive e.g Harlyn, Polzeath, Daymer Bay and also coastal walks. If you don''''t want to be right at the beach, this is a good cottage to choose.
