What can we say to add to all the lovely comments people have made over the past years! Lovely cottage, clean, simple, comfortable a very thing you need. Had 7 great days re weather and even managed a pool dip most afternoons. David is a great guy. Very friendly and helpful. Lovely Dan doggie too x. Our chats re the history of Bourgale etc was very interesting too. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
Amazing, wonderful place to stay with stunning countryside all around. David, thank you for the lovely welcome and tips on places to see! Many thanks again!
Another year done, and already looking forward to coming back
We have had a delightful stay here - a lovely and superbly equipped house, lovely grounds and pool and excellent hosts. Many things to see locally, high points included Rocamadour, Cadouin Abbey, Rouffignac Cave (revisited after over 50 years but clear memory despite being 4 on my first visit!) and the church at Besse, (thank you David for telling us) which is a very special place. The boulangère in Villefranche is a perfect early morning walk for baguette and pastries to then enjoy outside. Thank you again, we very much hope to return.
We feel very privileged and lucky to be here at Bourgale and back in the beautiful Dordogne - we were last here over 20 years ago! We have discovered new places and re-visited places we loved last time such as Château Milandes with all its new renovations and restoration. We had dinner at the small local night market in nearby Loubejac which was fun and dinner (plus football) in the village at O’ Fam Gout R Mets which was very good. Dave and family have been generous kind and welcoming hosts - thank you for your hospitality. Our very best wishes to you all.
In spite of seemingly endless rain we continue to find magic here at Bourgale and our precious village of Villefranche. The gardens, the songbirds and rich green landscape enrich our daily walks. The beauty of the region still inspires us. The history and rich architecture and cultural heritage are a constant reminder of mankind’s capacity for creativity as well as destruction. The agriculture and the fresh produce available at the myriad of markets are bountiful and delicious. The residents are charming and friendly. We are fortunate to enjoy the products of one of the regions best bakeries. David is a kind and gracious host. Everywhere we look we see the fruits of his and Katie’s labor. We miss her friendly smile, good humour and welcoming presence. Her sense of design and artistic vision surrounds us here.
