The l'Argentière valley is unique. You can just relax in the pretty stone cottage fitted out with a modern kitchen and bathroom, or chill out on the private terrace or at the private pool… But you can also go for beautiful walks and hikes, visit the medieval village of Viens, or enjoy the cultural villages and towns dotted all around the Luberon area.
The stone-built cottage is set in a quiet, private valley of exceptional natural beauty, It offers extensive views over the Luberon countryside, the surrounding woodlands and 3.5 hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens with a wide variety of specimen trees and flowering shrubs.
The cottage has a spacious and pretty terrace which overlooks the private swimming pool and the valley beyond. The l’Argentiere valley is a refuge for migrating birds from Africa as well as deer, hare, badgers and wild boar.
The owners live in the contiguous building, which is not visible from your cottage, but are on hand, should you need them, to give any help and advice you may want.
On the inside, the cottage is a charming mix of old and new - with all the comforts of home, including free WiFi. A wealth of antiques and paintings add elegance to the comfort offered by the king-size double bed. The sitting room has a cosy wood-burning stove, a television, a DVD player with a large selection of films, and numerous books. There is a modern shower with a heated towel rail, and a separate toilet and hand basin.
The spacious kitchen-dining room is equipped with a gas cooker and oven, microwave, fridge and washing machine (plus cutlery, cooking utensils, coffee pot, dishes, etc), and looks out onto the large private terrace, pretty plants and a barbecue.
Please note: access to the cottage is up a few picturesque stone steps, which may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.
L'Argentiere is close to Viens, a village perched on a hill some 3 km away, which has a grocery store, bar and good restaurant; while Céreste which is 12 minutes away by car. has 2 restaurants offering tasty meals, a bar, a cafeteria, frequent art exhibitions, 2 bakeries, a supermarket and hardware store, a petrol station, a butcher, a bank, a post office and a pharmacy.
At l'Argentiere, you are within easy reach of medieval villages and Roman remains. The Prieure de Carluc, a resting place for pilgrims on their way to Compostela, (listed a Historical Monument), lies immediately to the east of Céreste. Within a few kilometres there are countless activities, from horse riding to hot-air ballooning, as well as walks and hikes.
