Overview
Description
Cardenard is very tranquil, situated at the end of its own lane, with superb views over the valleys from its commanding position on the edge of the deep valley of the Baye. The aerial view in the gallery of photos shows all the property, with its main house, cottage and a number of outbuildings. It is surrounded by farm land about 4 miles north of the unspoiled village of Verfeil-sur-Seye, which has an excellent bakery and general store. Larger towns are within easy reach. It is our family's second home; the main house is comfortably furnished and fully equipped accommodating at least twelve people, with the option of four more in the cottage. This is not let separately, but is ideal as an overflow from the main house for members of the party, such as older teenagers, grandparents or an au pere, who may want to be separate. There is a large salon with an imposing fireplace and a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with a table seating twelve or more. There is a 12 x 6 metre swimming pool, a large sun terrace, a pergola, shaded with vines and a barbecue. In a corner of the garden, there is a further terrace overlooking the valleys which is ideal for al fresco breakfasts.15 Reviews
Leave ReviewTime to relax!
By Gemma and family on 10-Aug-2024This was our second summer holiday at Le Cardenard - I am sure we will return. What is not to love - a beautiful house in a very quiet and tranquil setting, you really are away from it all. We are an extended family of 14 but there is still plenty of space with a large pool and garden and amazing views from every direction! So many nearby places to visit and we indulged in the market produce, there is one almost everyday somewhere!. Owner is so helpful and responsive….we will be back!
Brilliant
By Peggy on 03-Aug-2024We had an amazing week at this gorgeous house. It was a beautiful setting. The house was very comfortable and the gardens are very well kept, with loads of space for games. The pool was lovely and enjoyed by all. We were 11 in all plus a baby and all had enough space to have quiet times and boisterous games of cricket. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you John for all the written information and your attention to detail
Very nice and quiet
By Johanna on 27-Jul-2024We had a lovely week with our family in this beautiful house and all the facilities. The pool was wonderful, we loved the pingpong table in the shed and the garden with the plumtrees, tomatoes and herbs. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the appliances we needed. . We visited the chateau of Najac and some local markets and brocante.
Relaxing & peaceful holiday .
By Hilary Hobden on 12-Aug-2023Beautiful house & location . If you are in a party with children , more washing line needed . The house desperately needs ceiling fans , it was 39 degrees for most of our stay & upstairs was so hot at night . Would go again if fans were installed .
Getting away from it all
By Gemma Fera on 05-Aug-2023My extended family and I had the most relaxing and fantastic week staying at Le Cardenard. There are no disturbances, just the sound of crickets and birds while you lie by the large pool looking out over an incredible view of the surrounding fields and hills. Very spacious and well equipped house and lots of lovely nearby towns and villages to explore. I would highly recommend a stay here!
Beautiful house, idyllic location
By Sarah T on 22-Jul-2023We have just returned from a week staying at Cardenard, we were 9 adults and 5 children, (aged 1-13 yrs.). The house and cottage slept 14 of us comfortably and had everything we needed from the fully equipped kitchen down to solar lights for the patio and an air pump for the inflatables. The pool was fantastic and the venue for some quite heated volleyball tournaments and the graduated steps in were great for the younger ones. Cardenard is in the most idyllic location with stunning views over the valley and is incredibly peaceful. We had a great holiday there and hope to return again.
