Description

The house is situated in a superb position about 200m from the Mediterranean sea, with the dramatic and colourful Esterel mountains behind. In five minutes on foot (or two minutes by car) you can reach the sandy beach and the shops and restaurants of the village of Agay. In summer months, there are opportunities for various watersports, and on Wednesday mornings year-round the local open air market is in full swing. St Raphael is about 20 minutes drive and has many restaurants and shops, covered market, marina and crazy golf, boat trips along the coast and to St Tropez. The ancient town of Frejus, with Roman ruins and its mediaeval cathedral, is a further 10 minutes beyond St Raphael.

Sleeps 6 (2 bedrooms)
Bedroom 1 with double bed and sea view. Bedroom 2 with two pairs of bunk beds.
Bathroom with bath, shower, basin and toilet.
Separate downstairs toilet with basin.

Small, fully-fitted, well equipped kitchen with electric fan oven/microwave, electric hob and fridge.
Understair walk-in cupboard includes washing machine, iron and table-top ironing board.

Large bright salon with French windows onto south-facing patio terrace with sea view. Single divan (can become bed for 7th person), table and chairs for 6. Radio/CD/tape equipment, numerous games, jigsaws, lots of books and maps of local interest.
Terrace shed contains sundry beach equipment (eg spades, mats), inflatable boats, parasols. (Beach towels not provided - please bring your own.)

Bed linen and towels are available. The house will be cleaned before your arrival, and we expect visitors to leave it in a similar clean state for the next visitors.

Please note the house is not a commercial buy-to-let; it's our own holiday house, built in the 1970s, which we are delighted to let others use. We would therefore request guests to look after the equipment and furnishings as if they were their own. Since we do not have a maintenance person coming in between visitors, we ask you please to let us know of any damage or breakages as soon as possible, so that we can inform the next guests. No pets or smoking, please.

The house is at one end of a terraced group of four, within a hillside estate of 29 houses with lower and upper parking areas. We park in the lower parking area.
The path from the carpark to the house includes a staircase of about 25 steps up. The footpath from the beach is about 150 m, most of which is up hill.

Private south-facing patio terrace of about 40 sq m, with garden in front and to one side.
Sun loungers and parasol available; chairs and a portable table can be brought outside from the salon (but please take inside at night or in rain).

150 metres (3 minutes) down the hill to wide sandy beach. Numerous water sport activities open in summer (eg kayaking, windsurfing, boat trips). Along the coast within 20 minutes in either direction are a great variety of other beaches, sandy and pebbly, popular or secluded, and some good snorkelling off the rocks. At any time of year you can walk along the sentier littoral as far as St Raphael.

Nice Airport: 75 minutes drive, mostly on the motorway.
11 hours driving from Calais, or 9 hrs from Paris.
Major railway stations at St Raphael (20 minutes away); there is a local train from St Raphael to Cannes via Agay several times a day. It is therefore possible to reach the house by train from the airport, with a 20 minute walk.

A Gem!

By Terry on 05-Oct-2024

We'd never been to Agay and the location was brilliant for us, hidden away between the bright lights of Saint Raphael and Cannes, with beaches, hikes and easy access by train (as well as car and bike) along the coast. The house was a really good base for the four of us, well equipped and comfortable and lovely out on the patio with views out to sea. The owners were very helpful and flexible. Highly recommended!

A great base for the Cote D'Azur

By Penny, Julian and family on 24-Aug-2024

Having driven from the UK, we were pleased to find the house clean and ready for our holiday week. Although compact the property had all the basic facilities required and was an excellent base for our adventures along the Cote D'Azur. Agay is a super seafront village with great restaurants, shops, a market on Wednesdays, water sports in the bay and walking along the coastal path or up into the Esterel massif. The patio is a great asset, with fabulous sea views, watching the array of boats and other activities. Teenagers, you can survive without Wi-Fi, but it is available on the beach. Fans and mosquito protection is invaluable in August!

Highly Recommended

We holidayed here last month and had a wonderful time. The house is very homely and comfortable, nicely decorated with a wonderful collection of books and music. Perfectly located in the friendly town of Agay a few minutes walk from the beach and local shops/cafes (Le Coast is very friendly and serve a great lunch). It’s an ideal spot from which to explore the local region or just stay put and enjoy the Mediterranean views from the surprisingly private terrace, we really enjoyed our BBQ evenings on the terrace. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful, we highly recommend this delightful property and hope to return in the future.

Truly Delightful

By James Cunningham on 19-Aug-2023

Nestled between the Esterel massif and the beach, we absolutely love this spot on the Mediterranean coast. Agay is a quiet and charming little town with a beautiful bay. We have stayed with Michael and Sue on a number of occasions over the years and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else in this region of France. The owners take care of everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and have made several improvements to the property during the time we have been visiting. It is a pleasure to stay here and we are grateful to them for sharing their home with us. You can enjoy lazy days, taking advantage of the short walk to the beach, or use it as a base for exploring the coast between St Tropez and Monaco. We’ve done both in equal measure and look forward to returning in the future.

Lovely holiday house on the med

By Tom S on 15-Sep-2022

Really enjoyed our stay at the house with a group of friends. Mostly spent time at the local beaches just a few minuites walk from the house. Large variety of things to do or beaches to visit. House was great and the garden was clearly well looked after.
