Description

The Cottage is a beautiful newly refurbished barn situated in the Lakeland Fells only a few miles from the vibrant town of Ulverston. With views of Weather Lamb and The Old Man of Coniston, The Cottage is the perfect place to relax, take in the views and get away from it all. With the Cumbrian Way and footpaths located near to the property, enthusiastic walkers can explore the stunning countryside, pet the goats and sheep and enjoy Coniston Water, which is only a few miles from The Cottage.

The Cottage is a converted barn fitted out with high quality furniture and furnishings . Light floods into the front room from two large picture windows which have uninterrupted views of the National Park and mountains.

Off the open plan living area is the comfortable bedroom, furnished with a pewter-effect King size bed, oak painted furniture, a pretty feature window and skylight. The ensuite bathroom boasts a large walk-in shower with grip rails and a skylight window.

The bright and airy kitchen has a wooden work surface, and light cream cupboards. There is a stylish white porcelain sink and stunning batik tiles and splashback. We provide a lovely welcome pack for our guests which includes a few coffee pods for the Nespresso coffee machine. The pack also includes milk, coffee, tea, sugar, local biscuits and fresh eggs from our hens.

The Cottage has its own dedicated outside space with two seating areas; a front patio and the Cottage Garden (a private and enclosed dog-secure space). There is also a separate laundry room and cycle store. The whole house is on one level and easily accessible.

One well-behaved dog or 2 small dogs are allowed. We have dog bowls, a dog bed and medium dog crate if required. The Cottage Garden is a secure area for your dog.
Access to The Cottage is through the drive way signed Crooked Birch. Drive past the main house to the small cottage on the right, through the menage to a parking area next to the fence. There is plenty of parking space and a good turning area.

The cottage and parking is perfect for wheelchair access.
One well-behaved dog or two small dogs are allowed. The Cottage Garden is a secure area for your dog. We provide extra blankets and towels for your dog. The towels are kept in the Laundry House.

We have sheep, goats, 2 dogs, chickens, ducks and a turkey so would request that dogs remain on a lead when walking through our fields. There are lots of sheep, highland cattle and horses on the fell so please bear this in mind when walking your dog.

Crooked Birch is a 'working' small holding so we are busy feeding the animals and working on the farm in the grounds. Our own home is opposite the side of The Cottage so you will see us around. We love chatting and getting to know our guests but if you want complete privacy that's absolutely fine. Every guest is different!

Stunning property and views

By Felicity on 21-Jul-2023

This property is stunning. Everything you need for your stay is provided along with a few extras. The property is set out with good qualility furnishings. The cottage was spotless. Plenty of parking. Very friendly goats. The views are absolutely stunning. Ideal for those seeking a peaceful holiday or for activity holidays as there is so much to do in the surrounding area. Lynn and Geoff are very amicable and approachable. They are committed to making your stay as enjoyable as possible and make you feel extremely welcome. Dogs are made to feel extremely welcome as well and they provide extras to accommodate them. The duck eggs are to die for. 😂. Goat food is provided if you wish to feed them (would highly recommend this as they are adorable). A great place to stay and will certainly return. Thank you for your hospitality and making us feel so welcome.

This was honestly one of the most wonderful places I have stayed

By Sophie Guy on 22-Apr-2023

I’m not one for writing reviews, but I just had to for Lynn. This was honestly one of the most wonderful places I have stayed. Lynn and her family were so friendly, and the cottage is SO beautiful. Lynn has thought of everything, we will 100% be returning!

One of my best Airbnb experiences ever

By Nathalie Christl on 25-Apr-2023

One of my best AirBnB experiences ever. Lovely cottage, lovely people, lovely area, and lovely goats ! The cottage is perfectly equipped and carefully decorated. The kitchen offers everything you may need to cook. Lynn gave me eggs from the farm’s hens and ducks, which were really amazing to taste. The location is quite remote, which was exactly what I was looking for.
