Description

An idyllic holiday cottage built as a farmhouse in the mid-19th century, Bladanel is set on a hill overlooking the beautiful Courbiac valley and with panoramic views of the 13th century Bastide town of Tournon situated high on an outcrop of rock. Tournon is 2 km away with shops, bank, pharmacy, and good restaurants.

Bladanel itself is one of half a dozen houses in a small hamlet. The others are farms (with delightful French inhabitants) and a couple of holiday homes owned by British or Dutch families. Bladanel is managed by British couple who live in a nearby village. Bladanel provides ideal holiday accommodation with its garden and 10 x 5 metre swimming pool with a pool heater (if required) and heat-retaining cover. To the south side of the house is a tiled awning providing relief from the heat of the sun. From the hallway, there is a small well-equipped Kitchen with all the usual facilities including a washing machine, microwave, and dishwasher.

There is a large sitting/dining room with exposed beams and a wood-burning stove in an open fireplace. Double doors lead out on to a paved terrace with the pool below. The bedroom on the ground floor has three single beds, and there is a shower room with shower, basin, and WC. The upstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, basin and WC. Garden furniture and barbecue are provided, also duvets and pillows. There is a telephone, a radio/tape/CD player, a VCR and also a combined TV/DVD with "Freeview" UK TV/Radio programmes. There is a wireless broadband facility.

Lovely holiday home, beautiful, fantastic views compensated for slightly disappointing weather. Very comfortable & certainly enjoyed the pool.

Struggled with internet connection in bad weather

Bladanel, three well earned weeks in June

By Graham Bowman on 07-Jun-2024

The cottage is very comfortable and enjoys a great view of rural farmland from the rear open terrace, where we spent the majority of our time - weather permitting. The side covered terrace enjoys the later sun. The cottage is very homely with many games, books and dvd's on hand to make use of in the lounge/dining room, which also has some unique features which come from the 1844 build date. The kitchen is relatively small but has everything you are likely to need, and everything works. The only room upstairs is the very comfortable master bedroom, and is large, well furnished (large, very comfortable bed), and has a lovely view of the sunrise from the bed. It has an en suite small bathroom. Watch your head on the beams! The other bedroom downstairs is also very comfortable and has access to a further shower room, with a modern walk in shower. The pool, which we expected to be fairly chilly in early June, was the opposite, and one of the warmest we have experienced and slightly larger than a lot of pools. Needless to say we were in almost every day! Paul and Michelle, the local house/ garden/pool keepers were readily available for a chat about the area, and anything you may need sorting. Communication with the owners was also good and prompt. Plenty of bastide towns, restaurants and chateaux for you to visit, For bird watchers the variety of species is staggering with something singing from dawn to dusk. The internet and tv are of course subject to the usual local rural and weather conditions Pretty well perfect!

Graham, Many thanks for your comprehensive - and nicely complimentary - review.

Really well situated

By Judith on 30-Mar-2024

Well equipped gite. As our stay was in March /April we didn’t try the pool! Set in farmland with many interesting villages and towns within a short drive. A lovely apero bench at the back of the house to contemplate the evening sun with a drink. (Needs a little place for a glass at the other side of the bench Roger!)

We will definitely return!

By Diane Cartledge on 30-Mar-2024

Bladanel is a great holiday venue with a lovely swimming pool and beautiful views. We saw wild deer on the land and several birds of prey. Despite being very early in the season we were cosy. There is a lovely living room with a good wood burner. The property manager and owner were really helpful and checked in with us that all was okay at the property. Bladanel is well located with the bastide of Tournon d''''Agenais just five minutes drive away and other bastide towns within a short distance. We will definitely return!

Bladanel is idyllic

By Stephen Billyeald on 01-Sep-2022

Stephen Billyeald 5/5 a year ago on Google Bladanel is in an idyllic location, peaceful, beautiful scenery and wonderful views. The house is well equipped, close to local shops for the basics and an easy drive to a major supermarket. We have visited Bladanel on many occasions and intend to visit many more times.

Quaint cottage in idyllic setting

By LEONIE H. on 29-Aug-2022

The house itself is just stunning: rustic in appearance and decor, but containing all you could possibly need. Our only criticism was that there was little to cool the bedrooms on very hot nights (though we were there during the heatwave). The location is also stunning: the house sits on the side of a hill, with amazing views of the valley below. Be aware though that there is another property next door, only feet away. The pool is of a great size but the area around it, for seating, is rather basic. The area is very quiet, rural with small, but very lovely, villages. The owner was helpful and quick to respond to messages. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at Bladanel and would definitely recommend the house for those who are looking for peace and quiet.
