In a tranquil position with lovely views, Graylands is tucked away in the New Forest National Park with walks starting from the cottage gate. Spend your days exploring the forest by foot, pony trekking, cycling, getting out and about exploring the areas many attractions or simply sitting back in the large garden and soaking up the lovely views and wildlife.Graylands Cottage provides secluded self-catering in an old Forester's Cottage. Glorious views over the New Forest National Park restore the soul! Guests can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of this haven, visited by an abundance of wildlife including numerous feathered friends and deer.
Perfect for families who want to visit this popular holiday destination, Graylands Cottage welcomes dogs and also offers a ten percent discount for couples or solo guests. We are very proud of the fact that some of our guests have been visiting for over 20 years, bringing new generations over time.
For those who enjoy walking, the tracks and trails of the New Forest start straight from the cottage gate allowing you to explore the area by foot. Why not walk out for lunch or supper at one of the local pubs? The nearest is only half a mile away. Fishing, pony trekking and golf are also available locally. Cycling is also very popular on designated gravel tracks within the New Forest National Park.
The area has an abundance of attractions to entertain all ages. Just ten minutes drive (or a two mile walk) is Fordingbridge, offering a wide selection of places to shop and eat. On the way to the market town of Ringwood is the Hampshire Wildlife Trust and also a lake for water skiing. Visit the pretty villages and towns of Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst (the 'capital of the Forest' with a tourist information centre) and Beaulieu, the home to the National Car Museum to name just a few. Drive 15 mins to the Elizabethan Mansion Breamore House, with its Countryside Museum and delicious Cream Teas. Or explore slightly further afield and visit Salisbury with its majestic cathedral, world famous Stonehenge, Paulton's Park (the kids will love Peppa Pig World!), Bournemouth and Christchurch on the coast and Lymington, the gateway to the Isle of Wight (why not take the ferry for a day trip!).
Stay locally and enjoy picnics in the forest where children can build dams, play pooh sticks and have a good splash around. For stocking up on provisions there is a nearby shop within walking distance across the fields at Sandyballs, and also the wonderful Wood Green community shop a short drive away.
Alternatively, simply relax and soak up the incredible views over the valley and New Forest with nothing to disturb you apart from the sound of bird song.

A very special place indeed
By anonymous on 17-Jan-2025Everything was perfect from the beginning! Booking was made so easy and questions answered quickly. A very gracious response to my phone call when I managed to get lost on my way! I have spent 5 days watching the sun rise and set, the birds, and enjoying the views. Perfect spot for my meditation retreat with walks from the doorstep. Spotlessly clean and well supplied with a lovely tranquil atmosphere. A very special place indeed. Many thanks.

By anonymous on 10-Aug-2024Hi Bruce Family Just a quick note to say how lovely the time at Graylands was. What an amazing quiet and relaxing place to stay a while. A perfect location to explore the forest from. I will forever remember the ponies leaning over the fence at breakfast time - heavenly!

We have made memories to last a lifetime (May 2024)
By anonymous on 17-May-2024We have been coming to Graylands since I was 2 years old, returning most years! This week whilst here, I celebrated my 25th birthday! made even more special this time as I brought my 5 month old son with us, his first of many holidays here I'm sure! Being here truly feels like a home from home, and there's not a doubt in my mind that baby X will find his happy place here, just as I have all my life. We have made memories to last a lifetime. The X Family (We can't wait for next time)
