Our 2 weeks visit Staring May 18 2024 was amazing. We lucked out with the weather, the accomodations were excellent comfortable, clean , secure and location central and ideal. The views and farm area are such a relaxing environment. The host Sophia and Mike are extremely accomodating, and very passionate about being a host and welcoming guest. We will return for another vacation in the very near future, we love Devon, the accomodation, the local area, the farm wildlife, the serenity and the Host.
Just returned from our second visit to the beautifully situated and appointed Lower Willsworthy Cottage. A little slice of heaven in deepest Devon, lots to do, even without leaving the stunning 40 acre estate. If venturing out on foot there are plenty of great walks to be had across Dartmoor and the local countryside. Also there are a good few National Trust properties only a short drive away, as well as some great local pubs.Tavistock is the nearby local town with great shops where you can get everything you need. Sophia and Mike are the perfect hosts and you will be assured of a warm welcome. The chickens and ducks wandering freely around the courtyard along with Baggy the dog all add to the relaxed ambience of this beautiful countryside idyll.
Lower Willsworthy Holiday Cottage is a sumptuous and magnificent place to stay. The location is outstandingly beautiful and blissfully quiet, it is unique and genuinely second to none. My wife and I plus our two grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lower Willsworthy Holiday Cottage. The grandchildren delighted in being able to freely and safely explore the substantial grounds. We would strongly recommend Willsworthy Holiday Cottage to anyone who is looking for a gorgeous place to stay in a truly stunning location.
It''s a magic moment where you stumble across somewhere that instantly feels right and you know you''ll be back. That happened for us when we visited Lower Willsworthy Holiday Cottage. Nestled discreetly down the most quintessially English country lanes, our welcome to the cottage was just what we''d hoped. Freshly baked cake, eggs laid by the resident ducks and hens and a friendly hello from hosts Mike and Sophia. The cottage is beautifully renovated and has its own private courtyard and garden by the river. We enjoyed lunches in the shade by the stream, with plenty of space for my daughter to run wild. The property is spectacular, with views over Dartmoor and plenty to explore without even stepping foot off Mike and Sophia''s land. There''s the River Tavy, perfect for a picnic or even a swim, or the lake where two pairs of geese and a pair of ducks were raising young when we were there. Sophia was incredibly generous with her time during our stay - ensuring our daughter had the most magical time grooming Jerry the Shetland pony and getting to know Sophia''s stunning horses. The experiences we had during our stay are now some of the most special memories of our English holiday. From start to finish, our stay at Lower Willsworthy was superb. There''s plenty to do in the countryside surrounding Lower Willsworthy - walks across Dartmoor, characterful local pubs, Tavistock only a few miles down the road, etc, etc. But for a special experience we''d definitely recommend a visit to Lydford Gorge Alpacas in the nearby village of Lydford. We fell in love with this part of Devon. We''d gone in search of a place where we could recharge and left energised and looking forward to our return. Thank you Sophia and Mike.
This cottage is situated on an immaculately kept farm estate of almost 40 acres. The property itself is exceptionally well appointed, with a good kitchen and two bathrooms, and a feeling of bright open space, especially if the sun is shining. It''s very easy to walk up on to the moor for a hike or you can stay on site for a bracing dip in the River Tavy. There''s a small lake too where you can read a book and drink your morning coffee. For those who want seclusion, there is a guests'' garden too. Pubs at Mary Tavy, Peter Tavy and Lydford are all within easy reach as is the famed Lydford pasty shop. For shops and supermarkets, Tavistock and Okehampton are no more than 20 mins away by car, whilst stannary town Chagford is perhaps 30 mins. If it''s your first time in Dartmoor, then the classic spots of Haytor, Dartmeet, Postbridge, Fingle Bridge, Bellavor and Two Bridges are but a hop, skip and a jump across the moor by
Where to start....A tranquil piece of ''Paradise'' in the heart of Dartmoor with hosts Mike and Sophia on hand with local knowledge to make our stay memorable. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped with stunning views. Seeing the horses in the livery daily, especially tiny Jerry was a real highlight. Fresh eggs available from the chickens and ducks in the grounds became a breakfast staple. Mike and Sophia were never intrusive so it always felt like we had the whole estate to ourselves. After 2 x weeks we all returned home refreshed and re-energised. Cannot wait to return!
