Wendy P Brian and Julie were very welcoming! The barn is in a very peaceful and beautiful location with outstanding views. It is very well equipped and felt like a home from home. All of the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We visited for my Mother’s 90th birthday and she was able to get about the ground floor without any problems. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved the fact that there were so many walks right from the door. Visited May 2024 Written 30 May 2024. Watlington, United Kingdom Albertine Cottage was a great choice for our family get-together over the Christmas period - a large but cosy lounge for social & relaxing, a well fitted kitchen and dining area for the Christmas Dinner, a ground floor bedroom for the senior family members, plus plenty of bedroom space for the other family generations to spread out. The dog loved it too. In the heart of the Peak District, it's an excellent location for local walks to Millers Dale, the Monsal Trail, Monks Dale, Lathkill Dale is not far either - and some great pubs to enjoy as well. Buxton and Bakewell both easy reach by car for shopping and more pubs! You experience some truly dark skies and starry nights at Brushfield - its a hidden gem of a place. Thanks to hosts Brian and Julie for making sure we had a super stay - the Christmas Tree and holly were a festive touch.
We had a fabulous week staying at Albertine Barn. The barn has been very tastefully converted and contained everything we could wish for. Brian and Julie, our hosts, were very friendly and helpful during our stay. The location is beautiful and we were able to access some gorgeous walks out into the Peak District without having to use the car. We had a great day cycling on the Monsal Trail which is just minutes away. Bakewell itself is a lovely town with plenty to offer. We can thoroughly recommend the two excellent restaurants we dined at - Raja's Indian Restaurant and The Woodyard. We were very lucky with the weather and made the most of it by sitting out in Albertine's lovely garden after each day's activities. The many bird-feeders attracted lots of birds - we even saw a woodpecker up close! We enjoyed our time so much that before we'd even begun our journey home, we made sure we'd arranged our booking for next year.
