Quietly situated, “Number 18” is some five minutes from both the gorgeous dog-friendly North Beach (via Sheps Hollow* or the Grand Hotel), and the path up to Ballard Down (thence Old Harry Rocks and Studland). It is about 15 minutes walk along the Town Beach into Town. All the attractions of the Purbeck area and Poole (via the chain ferry) are nearby, and there is easy driveway parking for two cars.

Number 18 offers peace and privacy in its sunny garden, with a spacious kitchen, and social spaces tumbling onto the deck via the French Doors. There is an adjacent dining room if in more formal mood, accessing the patio. Airy in summer, yet cosy when chilly, the additional lounge offers a wonderful log burner.

It accommodates 6/7 people (pricing explained below):
- The master bedroom on ground floor with a king bed and en suite shower room;
- A twin room, and a double room upstairs (with upstairs WC and bath);
- Plus a double sofa bed in the lounge;
- A third family bathroom downstairs.

It is ideal for a couple using downstairs, or a family of up to six, or even seven with an older child on the sofa bed. There is a secure rear garden suitable for the "average dog" (please discuss first if you would like to bring one).

Think “home from home” with a green outlook, and you have the idea of what it is like to stay here and make memories! We will welcome you with a complimentary "phew we made it" bottle of French fizz, and a few supplies.

PRICING: Please check website for base price for two people, and then add £17.50 per person per night for full price. Babes in arms / toddlers stay free provided in travel cot provided by you. We offer 25% discount for a 1 week stay or longer (included in price you see on website).

Number 18 is strictly non-smoking / vaping!! Note that we provide bedding, but please bring your own towels. If staying for 10 days or more, laundry facilities are available on special request.

Thank you for taking the time to browse ... and happy holidays!!

* Please note that the path at Sheps Hollow to the beach is officially closed as of mid September 24 due to the steps having been relocated by the sea! Some people do scramble down there at their own risk, but we recommend using the slope by the Grand Hotel. We hope that the Sheps Hollow access should be repaired early 2025.

Perfect and peaceful

By Karen Tongue on 31-Jul-2024

The house that just kept giving! Took my sister, who has mobility issues, down to Swanage and this property was perfect. Easy access, and with a ground floor bedroom/en suite, coupled with French doors from the kitchen on to the deck, suited our needs. Large, secure garden was great for the dog too! The house is clean, well-maintained and has super comfy bed and quality bedding. The kitchen is well equipped and has plenty of seating. We didn't use the lounge or dining room as we spent most of our time outdoors as the weather was perfect. Quiet beach closeby, or walk 5 minutes down to the main beach and town centre just 10 minutes. Communication with Chris was easy. Large area for parking on the drive. I'll definitely be looking to book again.

The Perfect Spot

By Adelaide on 14-Apr-2024

We loved our stay in Swanage. This house is the perfect spot. A stones throw from a beautiful secret beach, and a town full of activities for the whole family in the other direction. All walking distance from the house. A wonderful spot to get the whole family together. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely and warm with everything we needed.

Clean, comfortable and a great location, 5 minutes walk from the beautiful long sandy beach. No problem with parking here at all. We had excellent access to local amenities all within 15 minutes walk to Town. Loved the pubs. Swanage is really lovely, even when the weather isn’t the best. We had a really great stay. Thank you.

Delightful, homely house and good internet

By Jacqui G on 11-Apr-2024

I have stayed several times in Swanage at number 18 a delightful, homely house and good internet. It’s less than a 5 min walk to the secret beach, a haven where few people go and great for swimming as shallow water, no steep drops so perfect for children. Pop down early morning for a dip and no one is there, it is just so magical. The Downs are on the doorstep if you fancy a stroll to Old Harry Rocks or laze in the lovely sunny garden with a G&T and al fresco dining! Can’t wait to come back.

A comfortable property in Swanage

By Rob Derham on 09-Apr-2024

I have stayed a few times at the property It is very comfortable, presented in a clean friendly and homely way, with a secluded garden, and being only minutes from the beach, where you can choose the end nearer to town where there are beach huts and a couple of small cafes, or you can wander away from that, to a quiet stretch and relax where there are fewer people and no buildings, just the Jurassic coast, leading to Ballard Down and Old Harry Rocks. The house is set well back from a little used road, behind a wall and hedge, where there is ample parking. As the property has been modernised, it offers light and airy accommodation - all the modern facilities work, and with the French doors leading to the decked area being a sun trap, what more could you ask for? The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. A great place to relax and be at home.

Had a lovely stay at Number 18.

It’s in a great location just 5 minutes walk to a peaceful secret beach or to the promenade in Swanage, and you can easily walk into town. The bus from Bournemouth stops right at the end of the road so it’s easy to come without a car and fun getting the bus on the ferry. The accommodation is also lovely and perfect for a family, with multiple bathrooms and a spacious garden. Highly recommended!
