Description
Hansel Cottage is the perfect dog friendly option for large families and groups of friends to relax in rural tranquillity while still being within a few minutes drive of the nearest beach.Hansel is well located to explore all that South Devon has to offer. Mid way between the sailing meccas of Dartmouth and Salcombe, 15 minutes from the ‘Blue Flag’ Blackpool Sands beach and within 30 minutes drive of many sandy beaches, close to the South West Coast path and within an easy drive of Dartmoor, numerous children’s attractions and outdoor activities, there is something for everyone nearby.
Nearby Slapton and Strete have three well regarded pubs between them. Slightly further afield Torcross, Beesands, Stokenham Kingsbridge and Dartmouth have numerous highly recommended pubs and restaurants to suit all age groups and budgets.
The cottage has been recently renovated in a modern country style. It has four bedrooms (1 ensuite) with two further bathrooms. There is plenty of space for larger family or friend groups - sleeping eight people - with three main reception rooms and a generous farmhouse style kitchen. The former pigsty now provides a utility room with wetsuit drying area and a space for table tennis. There is also a pool table in the larger of the sitting rooms.
Outside there is a lovely 3/4 acre garden with magnificent views over the valley. Well behaved dogs are very welcome and the garden is fully fenced.

I really enjoyed staying here it is so nice and the garden is so much fun! I really loved sleeping in my bed, because it ws so comfy! I loved staying here. Devon is such a nice place with such a friendly environment! The walks here as so calm and enjoyable and hope to come again soon! I enjoyed staying here so so much, especially because of the games room with the pool table. We loved going on walks and looking at the amazing scenery and beeches. I hope to come to Devon again soon to explore more of the wonderful towns and scenery! The cottage is super nice, the rooms are nice and beds are sooo comfy. The pool table is really fun and the chess table is good too. The garden is amazing and super pretty. I loved my stay and really enjoyed the games room.

Loved Hansel cottage so cosy and warm
By Helen Scragg on 20-Nov-2025Loved Hansel cottage so cosy and warm. Celebrated my hubbys 70th with Friends and we all felt at home instantly. The kitchen is well equipped with everything and more and lots of games provided as well as Poole and table tennis. The entrance is a bit tight for large vehicles and the cables on the hair dryers aren’t long enough to reach the where the seat and mirrors are but otherwise very good
Hansel is as near to perfection as you will ever see!
By Sally Edney on 04-Oct-2025Beautiful cottage, rear garden perfect for both us and our dogs, they loved being able to run! Views from the garden across the valley are just stunning. The interior is lovely, and furnished just right including the bedrooms and all the bathroom/shower rooms. The kitchen is in keeping with the character of the cottage and has everything needed for a self catering holiday! In my husbands words, Hansel is as near to perfection as you will ever see in a holiday cottage, we will definitely be back!
