Fountain Cottage is the perfect home-from-home base for those looking to experience all that North Cornwall and beyond has to offer. Situated in a quiet Moorland village, it’s an easy drive to a wealth of coastline, walking on Bodmin Moor, or higher adrenaline activities - and is a peaceful, dark skies area at night, allowing for true relaxation and feeling away from it all when you need it! We visited and fell in love with Fountain Cottage and St Breward as guests at first, and when we heard it was coming up for sale in 2018, we took it over and gave it our own personal touches.

Nearby:
The Old Inn and Restaurant - Cornwall’s highest pub - is at the far end of the village, serving hearty locally-sourced traditional pub food (we always advise guests to get there hungry!!) and legendary Sunday dinners along with an extensive range of drinks, including many local options.
The Snail’s Pace Cafe - just outside the village about a mile away from the cottage at the start of the Camel Trail. Eco-friendly and ethical, with very friendly service and excellent food and coffee.

A little further afield:
Boscastle and Tintagel are a short drive away, as is the beautiful beach at Trebarwith Strand (we always recommend at least one sunset viewed from there!). Inland, there is Bodmin, home to the popular Bodmin Jail, Wadebridge and miles and miles of the stunning and varied Bodmin Moor. At times when the rest of Cornwall may feel very busy, you can walk from our door for miles without seeing a soul, which is sometimes very welcome! We keep a number of walking guides on our shelves in the “Cornish corner” to help guests pick suitable routes. St Breward also sits on the National Cycle Route 3, and is a mile from the start of the Camel Trail at Wenford Bridge, taking an easy, historic and scenic route all the way to Padstow for those who have the energy!

Further still:
Coastal towns of Padstow, Looe, Fowey, Polperro, Bude, Mevagissey, Newquay - and then even further to Penzance, St Ives, Marazion, Mousehole, Lands End… all an easy drive.
We’re in easy reach of the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, numerous stately homes and gardens, surfing, SUP, coasteering, karting - you name it, it’s probably doable from Fountain Cottage!

We’re always willing to share our favourite places too. Just ask us, and we’ll make suggestions!
