Description

Goose Cottage is something very special indeed. The owner Paul wanted to design an accessible property for wheelchair users, with a difference, and we think he has achieved that

The cottage has been recently renovated to an extremely high standard, with lots of thoughtful additions, including riser recliner chairs, an inline hob lowered for wheelchair users so no reaching over hot pans, electric curtains and the most incredible wetroom complete with a remote controlled toilet!

Goose Cottage is in the grounds of the owners beautiful house in a stunning hillside location, very peaceful with wildlife and birds all around you. Access is on a private road with just a few properties so you are in a very special place indeed. The accommodation is all on one level with flat parking and access to the cottage through French doors.

The sitting area has two incredibly comfortable riser recliners chairs, and a large flat screen TV on the wall. The kitchen is well equipped and thought through, with an inline hob, so no reaching over for hot pans, a double air fryer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a washing machine and dryer and further drinks fridge and freezer in the utility room.

The bedroom is of a good size with access for wheelchairs on one side. The beds are electric, and one has a roll bar that can be removed, and can be raised top and bottom, (not profiling) There is also a TV on the wall in this room and a wardrobe.

The wetroom is incredible and you will definitely say ‘Wow’ when you walk in. The roll in wetroom is tiled with large glazed tiles and the ceiling is decorated with a planetarium. The toilet is remote control so when you walk up to it the lid rises, there are grab bars on either side. The basin has a tap sensor, so no turning taps on and off, just put your hands underneath.

The garden is fully walled and enclosed and a real sun trap. Garden furniture is available for sunny evenings outside. Goose Cottage is a stunning accessible holiday cottage in Snettisham

Snettisham, we think, is a pretty perfect village in that is has virtually everything you could possibly need. The Rose and Crown pub is a great local favourite as is The Queen Victoria . The Old Bank Restaurant should be on everyone’s list (booking is essential!) For coffee and breakfast The Old Stores is perfect with the best croissants on the coast! There is a large antique centre, often used on antiques programmes, that also has a great coffee shop. Opposite this is a small complex of shops including another coffee shop and a chocolatier.

One of the main attractions that brings so many guests to Snettisham is it’s proximity to the famous RSPB reserve on the Wash and of course Wild Ken Hill which has been used for the past few years by the BBC to film Springwatch and Autumnwatch. Birding and wildlife watching here is world class, and just a few miles around the coast you have RSPB Titchwell and a bit further there is the Cley Salt Marsh reserves. The sight of the Pink Foot geese coming home to roost in the wintertime is one of natures must sees. The Snettisham Spectaculars are another incredible wildlife must see, at certain times of the year tens of thousands of knots and other migratory birds, leave the mud flats at the same time and the sight and sound of this is mesmerising. The incredible sunsets here are also something worth seeing. So you are really spoilt for choice and might need to come back again and again!
