Lovely cottage! Highly recommended!

By Nicola on 29-Dec-2023

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it's perfectly equipped with everything you need and has wonderful views. The location is perfect and close to lots of nice walks, also close enough to local towns like Ambleside and Windermere, if you want to venture a bit further! The hosts Andy and Judy are very friendly and helpful and we couldn't thank them enough as we hit a bit of car bother which they were very helpful with. Thanks for having us and would highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful nature therapy & a well being boost!

By Maggie Pierce on 19-Jun-2021

Arriving at Ash cottage was a joy - the attractive winding driveway, vibrant birdsong and well tended gardens had us feeling relaxed and anticipating a delightful week’s break. Judy welcomed us warmly and assured us of her desire to help in any way if needed, which was a lovely introduction, and we felt at ease parking up & familiarising ourselves at our own pace. The quiet elevated position, overlooking Lingmoor fell and the Langdale pikes beyond, was mesmerising and had us speechless at the beauty. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with all that we needed. We very much appreciated the kind gift of delicious biscuits & coffee which we immediately took outside to sit and enjoy in the sunshine- a glorious start! Our week was a delight in every way and we look forward to returning to this little gem of a bolt hole again. Special moments for us were lots of varied birdwatching, seeing a Tawny owl up close, watching a red squirrel on the feeder & a stoat out of the kitchen window. It was also amazing to be able to do several walks out of the garden gate & then return several hours later! Thank you so much Andy & Judy - we had the best time and shall savour the memories.

Lovely stay, amazing views from Ash Cottage, Skelwith Bridge

By Anne & Ian on 17-Apr-2021

We had a really homely stay in Ash cottage the views are perfect especially as we had a week of good weather. The birds that come to the bird table and feeder keep you looking when ever you are around, the woodpecker even came on the tree, and the Stoat payed us a visit as well. Judy and Andy are a very friendly couple and their cottage is central for most of the places of interest in the Lake District. We would definitley come again. .

Ash Cottage is a little gem

By Tudor & Debs Hill on 16-Jun-2019

The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated - a real home from home - and the owners, Andy and Judy, were so friendly and keen to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible, while leaving us to get on with our holiday in peace. This year was our second visit and we wouldn’t consider anywhere else to stay. We can’t wait for visit number three.

Super Cottage with Amazing Views

By Judy Parker on 17-Feb-2019

We have just returned, reluctantly, from a wonderful 7 nights at Ash Cottage. We were looking to stay somewhere where we could explore the fells with our dog and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place! The cottage is situated high up above the road and the views from the window are stunning, overlooking the Langdale Fells and beyond. The beauty of having lovely long walks direct from the door.... The cottage itself was just perfect for us. Everything we needed. A wonderful modern bathroom with a great shower, a big bath and underfloor heating, a well equipped kitchen, a cosy longe and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in! The owners, Andy and Judy, were absolutely brilliant. They met us on arrival and were so warm and friendly. Thank you for all your attention to detail in the cottage, including a well stocked bird table and feeder right outside the lounge window where we spent time over breakfast watching the birds having their breakfast! We're so glad we found this place and we hope to return again!

Perfect for two

By Sarah & Russell Powell on 10-Feb-2019

Perfect for two ***** Just wanted to thank you both for a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Ash Cottage. We loved the cosy feel of it, especially the lounge/dining area with its original fireplace feature and fabulous views. So many Lake District rentals seem to cater for large numbers of people but there’s only the two of us and we didn’t want to be rattling around in an enormous property with multiple bedrooms we don’t need, and paying for the privilege! Ash Cottage was ideal for us. After long days out walking on the fells, it was wonderful to return to a relaxing bath or shower in that luxurious bathroom, have a bite to eat and then settle down for the evening in peaceful and comfortable surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed and we really appreciated being able to dry our wet clothes and boots overnight in your boiler room on a couple of occasions. The WiFi was most welcome too as 4G mobile network coverage in the area is somewhat limited. Although we came to the Lakes for a quiet getaway, it was still good to be able to stay in touch with family and friends without having to visit an Internet cafe. We hope to return some time and would recommend the cottage to others.
