Description

Chestnut Mews is tucked away on the edge of the picturesque Shanklin Old Village, on the south eastern corner of the island. We have three cottages within Chestnut Mews, Jasmine, Honeysuckle and Clematis Cottage, all three are Self careering holiday cottages. Only a 10 minute walk away are Shanklin's beaches whilst the center of the old village with its pretty thatched cottages, tea rooms, and pubs are just a few minutes walk. Shanklin Chine and Rylstone gardens, with crazy golf, tea rooms and bandstand, live music is played here during the summer months, and Big Mead Park are also just a few minutes walk away. Big Mead has a large area to picnic, plenty of room for ball games, a duck pond, play area and is next to St. Blasius 12th century church. This is all on the edge of an area of outstanding natural beauty, as is a large area of the Isle of Wight. There are many stunning coastal and country footpaths, some can be joined at the end of the road.
Jasmine, Honeysuckle & Clematis cottage's are 3 bedroom providing self-catering accommodation for up to six guests. The master bedroom having a King size bed and en-suite walk in shower, The other two are twin bedded or one single bed and a travel cot sharing the family bathroom with full size bath and shower above. The lounge/ dining room is open plan with patio doors opening out onto a decked patio area, there is outdoor furniture, and views out over the large mature garden and children's play area. Jasmine and Honeysuckle share the larger garden whilst Clematis has its own private garden with little tikes play equipment and play house. There is ample parking in front of the cottages. If you don't wish to use, or bring, your car there is a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk, The Train also stops in Shanklin town. There is nearby cycle hire and plenty to keep you busy within walking distance. Our Cottages are child friendly, equipped with stair gates, high chair, travel cot, toys and bed guards if needed. Our Cottages are no smoking, no Vaping and sorry no pets.

Honeysuckle Cottage, Oct 2023

By Verified traveler on 12-Nov-2023

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy Brilliant find! Everything about Honeysuckle Cottage either met, or exceeded, expectations. The house was comfortably and tastefully furnished, with lots of little extras to make life easier. The kids absolutely loved all the toys in the garden and were particularly taken with the double storey cubby house. Definitely hope to return.

Clematis Cottage, September 2023

By Keith M on 02-Oct-2023

A great few days in a "home from home" We had a mid week break here with one of our children and her partner and our grandson. At 22 months we felt the enclosed garden at Clematis cottage would suit him best. The cottage is well positioned close to Shanklin Old village. A 5 minute walk gets you to the pubs, shops and Shanklin Chine. The house is in a cul de sac so is quiet and secluded. The house has all you need for a family holiday. Toys for the children, ample furniture, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, clean throughout and clothes washing facilities. We had everything we needed. In short, a home from home in a new environment. Our contact with the hosts was excellent. They were understanding of our specific needs and met these. All communications were responded to quickly and they obviously wanted to fulfil our needs. Thank you Peter and Mandy.

A lovely place to stay We really enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage and would love to return in the future. It is family friendly with stair gates fitted and play equipment in the garden, together with having comfortable beds and sofas and a very well equipped kitchen. It is also in a good location with only a short walk to the beach and shops. We would thoroughly recommend booking this property.

Clematis Cottage September 2023

By AB on 23-Sep-2023

Great holiday cottage on Isle of Wight It''''s a lovely spacious open plan cottage and the owners have given thought to little extras like a welcome pack. The whole place was beautifully clean on arrival. It''''s also useful being only a short walk from the village and a reasonable walk from the beach as that avoids the parking charges and difficulty finding a space in Shanklin. This was our third visit and we expect to come again to one of the three cottages in this little enclave.

Clematis Cottage September 2023

Home from home Our first time in clematis cottage was lovely, very homely and comfortable inside, very clean and well looked after, very close to the shop cafes and pubs in shanklin, A great base for exploring the island, lots of information from the owners sent to us, very near to the bus stop wich covers all the island, well equipped for families with a private garden and car parking, would defintely recommend this property.
