Description

Le Chause Haut. A spacious, comfortable holiday house with large private heated pool and stunning views over the Vézère Valley and local Chateau. It is equipped to a very high standard to ensure your perfect Dordogne holiday! On the ground floor : It has a bright and sunny, well equipped country-style kitchen/diner, with farmhouse table seating eight, and French doors leading onto the sunny courtyard.

The large separate lounge, with log-burning feature fireplace, has sumptuous sofas and benefits from English satellite TV. French doors lead onto a shady covered terrace. There are 2 double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room: a family bathroom, and separate toilet. On the first floor : There is a further double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and another toilet and shower. Setting : This charming house is nestled in two acres of land with oak woodland to the rear and open meadow in front stretching down towards the river. The 12m x 4m heated swimming pool is set in its own large sun terrace, with a wonderful view of the Chateau. A perfect place to relax and soak up the sun!

The pool is bathed in sunshine from mid-morning until sundown! For dining al fresco, there are two terraces - one by the pool, benefiting from lovely dappled shade; the other a covered terrace to the rear of the house, ideal for eating or simply relaxing in the shade. Both enjoy beautiful views over the countryside. Le Chause Haut really is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy your holiday with family or friends.

The owners live in the cottage next door so are just a few seconds away should you require any advice or assistance.

Surroundings : The house overlooks the beautiful Vézère Valley, and sits at the end of a private drive which winds gently up from the river. The little village of Thonac with its well stocked shop, restaurants and bar, is less than a mile away. The charming market town of Montignac and the famous Lascaux caves are just a ten minute drive to the north, and the pre-historic troglodyte fortress of La Roque Saint-Christophe a ten minute drive to the South. You will be spoilt for choice for places to visit and things to do! The medieval town of Sarlat; Les Eyzies, the European centre of Pre-History; and several of the Plus Beaux Villages de France including St Leon sur Vézère, Beynac, Castelnaud, and Domme, are within a twenty mile radius of the house. Other wonderful attractions in the immediate area include pre-historic parks and caves; chateaux and gardens; and magnificent castles dating back to the Hundred Years War. The many and varied activities on the doorstep include canoeing, horse-riding, walking, cycling and paragliding. There are also many attractions such as an aquarium, a treetop adventure park and a heritage theme park. To name them all would need a book - the list is endless....! Those looking to experience the gastronomic delights of the region will find a nearby market on every day of the week offering the very best that local producers have to offer. There are many opportunities to discover the secrets of production and sample the fine foods and wine that this area is famous for - confit de canard, foie gras, gateau noix, regional cheeses and Bergerac wines to name but a few. There is an abundance of local restaurants to suit every taste and budget, ranging from riverside cafés to haute cuisine. PLEASE NOTE : The pool is available for use from May to September, and will be heated throughout this period.

Perfect Place

By Alison & Jan on 08-Sep-2024

To find a place like this is rare but David & Lori have managed to create this fabulous holiday home for their guests. Absolutely nothing has been forgotten even down to the electric orange squeezer! They are on hand if you need any local information but never intrude on your privacy. We truly hope to return soon.

What a visit

By Brian and Emily and Sharon and Ray on 17-Aug-2024

What a visit, what a pool, what a sunset, what an area. Castles, caves, wine, boules tournaments, and delicious duck. The boys loved it, as did my wife and I. Many, many thanks for the memories. Brian, Emily, Ailbe and Eoin Thank you both for another fab holiday and thank you for welcoming Brian, Emily and the children. We've all had a wonderful time. See you here next year. Sharon and Ray

Wonderful

By Christine G on 12-Aug-2024

Gorgeous property in beautiful location. Everything you would ever need is available in the cottage. It keeps cool during extreme heat. The pool is large, clean and overlooks a chateau and countryside. The owners are very helpful and friendly. A very rural area, a car is definitely needed for exploration and shopping. Peaceful and relaxed stay, fully recommend.

What a fantastic holiday

By Sue and Dave R on 03-Aug-2024

What a fantastic holiday we have all had here in your wonderful house. The attention to detail is brilliant and we can all honestly say there is nothing we would change. The pool is amazing and all the grounds are so peaceful. There is so much to do nearby, including the water park, canoeing, caves, the escape chateau and the assault course on the lake was great hit, as was karting. There is so much to cater for every age, but just relaxing at the house has been perfect. Thank you for being such kind and wonderful hosts. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Two weeks packed full

By Iain and Laura W on 20-Jul-2024

Two weeks packed full of trips to Chateaux and amazing markets, paddling down rivers, treks through woodland, gorging on top food in St Leon. Every day was a new experience, ending with the obligatory afternoon by the fantastic pool. A holiday to exceed all expectations. Dave and Lori are kindest and most welcoming hosts. Can't fault what they do. Thanks a mill

We had the best week staying at Le Chause Haut

By Danni G on 07-Oct-2023

We had the best week staying at Le Chause Haut. Many afternoons spent in the pool and on the terraces. We visited Parc du Thot which was lovely and shady. great animals from around the area (pre-historic) and we especially loved the goats! Parc aux Dinosaures was also a big hit and nice and cool on a hot day - great fun for kids! We canoe'd from Thonac to St Leon which was a prefect distance for a five-year old. Thanks for a great stay
