When staying at Kelvinside, our holiday cottage in Northumberland, you are in the heart of the Northumberland countryside and stunning coastline, in the peaceful village of Seahouses.
You will be within driving distance of Alnwick Gardens and Castle (where Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were filmed), Holy Island, Berwick, Dunstanburgh Castle, Warkworth Castle, Low Newton National Trust Village Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle and Edinburgh.
There are numerous golf courses in the area, diving off The Farne Islands, bird watching, hiking, cycling routes straight from the house and horse riding is available locally. Boat trips in the winter months will allow you to see seal pups on the nearby islands.
The area is a bird watchers paradise. There are puffins in Summer on the Farne Islands which are owned by The National Trust. In Winter you can take a boat out to tour the Islands where you can see large colonies of seals.
Holy Island, reached across a tidal road, is the seat of early Christianity in England. St Cuthbert was buried there until his remains had to be rescued from the Vikings. The Island also has huge expanses of beautiful, clean, empty beaches.
Scottish Border towns are within an hour’s drive of Seahouses and the magnificent countryside that surrounds the Cheviot Hills is also easily accessible.
