Lying on the South Western slopes of breathtaking Dartmoor National Park the Walkham valley is a haven of beauty and tranquility. Lovingly renovated with luxury and comfort in mind, award winning Walkham Valley cottages offer the perfect setting for your country escape.Nestled in the side of the valley we are surrounded only by open moor, woodland, and pasture. All that Dartmoor has to offer is on your doorstep. Be your preference sitting back in the garden relaxing with a glass of wine, trekking on horseback across the moors, walking, golfing, days at the beach, off-road cycling or fishing, all is close by.
The nearby market town of Tavistock is charming, with an eclectic mix of boutique shops, restaurants, pubs and a daily pannier market.
Our location close to the border of Devon and Cornwall is perfectly suited to exploring the area's countryside, lovely beaches and historic places.
Huckworthy
Sleeps 2 (+ cot), open plan kitchen/dining area and sitting area with three steps leading down to the bedroom and then up to the en-suite bathroom.
Taking it’s name from the nearby bridge over the Walkham river, Huckworthy is a truly idyllic couple’s retreat. Granite steps lead you up to the front door and private garden area.
Designed for two, Huckworthy offers a light and spacious open plan living room with a large comfy sofa and wood burner. The fully equipped and stylish kitchen with adjacent dining area has all you need for long lazy lunches and romantic suppers. Three steps lead you down to the bedroom with a king size bed, and another three take you up to a sparkling and contemporary bathroom with a bath and a separate rainfall shower.

Oak floors in bedrooms and sitting areas and slate floors in bathrooms and kitchen areas.
Private parking for 1 car.
Enclosed garden with patio furniture backs onto open pasture.
Please note that there are several slightly uneven stone steps leading up to the cottage door and there is a small slope leading up to the garden table and chairs, therefore this cottage may not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
The cottage is dog-friendly (one dog over the age of two).
Smoking is not allowed in the cottage.
Highchair and travel cot are available upon request.
Parties, hen dos or stag dos are not permitted in our cottages.
The cottage has a private water supply that is regularly tested.
Please note that the lanes around us are quite narrow sometimes with very few passing places.

The furnishings and decor made it feel homely, whilst touches like fresh flowers added a sense of luxury. The property is set back from the others so that it feels private and has a lovely enclosed garden. It’s also in great location for exploring Dartmoor, with the coast not far away.

Perfect cottage for two
By Mrs Corry on 11-Feb-2024This is a perfect cottage for two people. It was so well equipped, the decor was immaculate and very stylish and the owners left some delicious goodies for us to eat/drink, as well as fresh flowers. It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend Huckworthy cottage.
Excellent property
By Mr Stead on 04-Oct-2023Just got back from our week at Huckworthy, at the risk of using to many superlatives, excellent property, well equipped with everything that we needed and was very comfortable. Location was excellent on the western side of Dartmoor, can walk out onto the moors more or less straight from the property, and with just short drives to many more different walks across the moors, amazing wide open spaces. Getting stocked up with provisions for the week was not an issue with a well stocked CO-OP at Yelverton or larger Tesco or Morrisons at Tavistock and there''s plenty of pubs in the area. Can recommend the Walkhampton inn at Walkhampton and the Drake Manor inn at Buckland Monachorum.
