Description
This 16th Century Cottage is known locally as La Bergerie which is located in the centre of the small village of St Vigor-des-Monts, not far from junction 39 of the A84 (Pont Farcy). The A84 runs from Caen to Avranches (definitely worth a visit). La Bergerie is 10 miles from the market town of Villedieu-les-Poeles along the D975 (which runs parallel to the A84) and about an hour's drive from Ouistreham, the ferry port just north of Caen, where there are 3 ferries a day from Portsmouth. There are also ferries from England to Cherbourg (90 minutes north), St Malo (90 miles west) or even Dover-Calais (4 hours’ drive). La Bergerie is in the countryside (nearest shops are 4 miles away in the small town of Tessy-sur-Vire) so a car is essential. Local attractions include the the beautiful beaches of Normandy and Mont St. Michel is 45 minutes’ drive to the west and Bayeux about the same but north east. Good beaches are to be found to the west near Granville on the Cotentin peninsula. Normandy is full of interesting attractions and of course there are the D-Day beaches.
La Bergerie has 4 bedrooms 3 of which are upstairs with a bath room, the 4th bedroom is on the ground floor adjacent to a shower room/WC. There are 2 double beds, 2 single beds and a travel cot so sleeps 6 . Bedding and towels can be provided with an extra charge of £30.
