The dreamiest, most elegant escape in the French countryside. Our host’s Deirdre and Marc went above and beyond to meet our every need, and more. Would give six stars if I could.
Le Moulin sur Célé is a little piece of heaven on earth! Deirdre and Marc were wonderful hosts and have created a truly magical place to stay. The accommodation is beautiful and incredibly comfortable, with every little detail considered for your stay. Amazing place to visit!
A huge thank you to Deirdre, Marc, Carl, James and Christina for embracing us in the warm welcome of the Magical Moulin. My family, guests and I were enchanted by its beauty and the calm and tranquil setting soothed away the trials and tribulations of daily life and transported us to a very happy and harmonious place. Whilst the month of May was the wettest on record since 1922, our week at Le Moulin and our photos are filled with sunshine and our memories of the generous hospitality and warm welcome of the Gysling family. There is something truly atmospheric about the setting of Le Moulin. Maybe it is one of those geographic areas that emits a positive energy, or it could be the lazy river flowing gently along side, or the feeling of being cosseted and protected by the beautiful mountain range in the distance. Whatever it is, it is certainly enhanced by the love, care and attention to detail poured into Le Moulin by the Gysling family. It is like a little haven of cosiness nestled in a stunning and peaceful setting. Perfect for a totally restful and relaxing stay! Bonne continuation and hope to see you all again one day in the future Big hugs to all the wonderful crew and Harvey !
Earlier this year my family and I enjoyed an outstanding holiday at Le Moulin, where nothing was too much trouble for owners Deirdre and Marc, who were incredibly accommodating, and ensured that our trip was perfect from start to finish. We stayed in the beautifully restored Miller’s House, where their attention to detail in this warm and inviting period property, immediately made us feel at home. As keen cooks we all gravitated around the fabulous, superbly equipped kitchen, although we did take a break from the stove one evening and booked a great chef (that Marc kindly arranged for us) who served up a delicious meal that catered to our various tastes. Wish we’d booked him for two nights! Besides relaxing by the pool, resting in the hammocks by the river, and booking a yoga session on the lawn overlooking the river (ask Deirdre for details), we also explored the local villages by bike (first time in years for me!). The roads to the nearby villages were really easy to navigate with lots of spaces to pull in to admire and photograph the stunning scenery. Also look out for some interesting birds… I’m sure I spotted a Black Kite in a nearby field. So, if you're looking for a tranquil getaway in rural southwest France, in an idyllic location where you can unwind and reconnect with nature, then I can wholeheartedly recommend Le Moulin sur Célé. We're already counting the days until we can return!
Deirdre and Marc have evidently worked hard to bring the dream of Le Moulin to life. They’ve lovingly restored the beautiful mill house and surrounding buildings with an eclectic mix of Irish and French flair and design ideas, updating and restoring with sensitivity and passion. We loved the food, the wine and the ambience. There’s enough space to find a secluded corner if you feel the need to have some quiet time but the public areas are generous – especially the garden dining room where everyone can come together with comfort and ease. Having the river so close was a real bonus, and sitting on the bank with a bottle of something white, cold, fizzy and of course alcoholic after swimming and kayaking was just wonderful! The surrounding countryside is classic south of France with a sun-kissed landscape, beautiful vernacular architecture and lovely places to explore but only if you can bear to tear yourself away from Le Moulin!
Had a wonderful time here with family. Peaceful and charming location on the water. The Villa and surrounding area is picture-postcard. Deirdre and Marc are the most gracious hosts and made our stay one to remember.
