the whole family group felt it was a privilege to stay somewhere so beautiful and close to nature. it was just perfect for our group aged 7 up to 67, the kids and big kids played in the stream, on the swings under the trees, trekking the hills behind before bedtime, kayaking in the loch down in the village or trekking to the top of schiehallion, finally getting some breeze in the hot sunshine. not just the walks but the enclosed garden and the enclosed field in front of us, empty of cattle or sheep was perfect for the dogs during our stay. very relaxing house, easy to cook supper or barbecue indoors while the family played darts in the snug room. we'd all recommend the place to others, the 15 minute drive from the house to the road was always an adventure where my grandson liked to be gatekeeper, the cows are so chilled watching us. we all loved our stay. we had a problem with the dishwasher and it was exchanged the same day, excellent maintenance team.
We are a family group, 3 generations, and our stay was idyllic. The owner was really helpful and communicative, really lovely to deal with and when we got there - wow.! The views are spectacular, a really special place, and the cottage was absolutely lovely. There were ample bathrooms to meet all the different age groups, and the rooms were comfortable and cosy. We used the play room as an additional bedroom as our children are young adults, and they were very comfortable in there. The dining table expanded to fit us all (9) which was great and the kitchen facilities were modern and well equipped. The garden is properly enclosed, perfect for dogs and children, with plenty of space around to explore and play. At one end of the cottage is a bar with a dart board which was a real bonus-competition was hot! The track to the cottage is uneven, but in summer months it is perfectly drive-able. You would definitely need a proper 4 wheel drive in the winter. We loved how isolated it felt - but just down the road there is a local shop and the other way, a lovely bar at the hotel. The best of both worlds! I have seen some people reviewing who can't be used to staying in Scottish rural cottages. The water is brackish, it is up a long-ish track, but if you are looking for a 5 star experience go to Peebles! For us, who have been coming to Scotland for decades, it is perfect and we will certainly be booking again.
Superb authentic farm/mill in an idyllic location. The remote setting and stunning views are to die for if you love beautiful countryside and peace. Great walks and nature all around on your door step and absolute gem.

Marie B. said... 10 Dec 2017 This place is magical!Moulin Vaddie, Dunalastair , Perthshire, PH16 5PA, United Kingdom Date of Stay 26 Aug 2017 Helpful votes: 1/0 I would recommend this property to anyone who wanted peace and tranquility. Set back approximately 1 mile from the main road the farmhouse is surrounded on all sides by stunning mountains, rivers and wildlife. The farmhouse itself has everything you need and is warm and comfortable. There is lots to do in the near vicinity with the local caravan site having a very reasonably priced shop and restaurant and the local village is picture perfect. My husband and I never really got over our visit and cannot wait to return. It was as if we could pause time for a week and just be! Our young son played happily in the garden surrounded by amazing scenery. We found this farmhouse to be heaven on earth. We will hopefully get married here in the future, never seen a more beautiful location.
