Perfect for young children & teenagers alike with supervised activities including paint balling, archery and high tree adventures.

Our nearest town, St Yrieix-la-Perche, is a historic & pretty market town with a longstanding tradition of being associated with the famous Limoges porcelain. With it's quaint medieval cobbled streets, boutiques, shops & 12th century collegiate church, it also holds a lively farmers market on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. In addition it has a new indoor leisure pool with outdoor water slides and an indoor tennis centre. This region is home to a plethora of beautiful chateaux, notably Hautefort & the fairytale castle at Jumilhac le Grand. The nearby village of Excideuil with it's 10th century monastery, gothic church & 16th century houses is well worth a visit - it is also home to one of our favourite restaurants in the Perigord Vert, Le Fin Chapon. The North Dordogne is one of the most beautiful & popular regions in France & is well known for its numerous prehistoric sites, including the famous Grotte de Lascaux & Grotte de Villars, or for the more energetic there are endless opportunities to canoe & kayak upon its many rivers. For the wine enthusiast, we are within easy travelling distance of the vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux. The local countryside is both beautiful and unspoilt with rolling hills and valleys containing many rivers and lakes, ideal for those who enjoy walking or cycling.

Absolutely gorgeous, secluded, peaceful and beautiful

By Jo & Doug on 28-Sep-2024

We stayed for a week at the beginning of October. The property was spotless, full of character and well equipped. The days were relatively warm so we spent time round the pool which was superb and heated, plus drove out and about looking at the superb scenery. We had a couple of log fires in the evening which was so cosy. There was just the 2 of us and a small dog, but there is plenty of space for more. The grounds were exceptional, and was so nice to take a stroll around. The stars at night were also impressive due to the minimal light pollution. Plenty of shops a short drive away and a great vet in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche for the return to UK check up and wormer. I would definitely recommend this place.

A fabulous and peaceful retreat

By Holly Wild on 20-Jul-2024

Everything was just perfect and we couldn’t have wished for a more relaxing and peaceful holiday. The house is typically rustic and quirky but beautifully done out with all modern facilities. It’s extremely private, you are not overlooked via any aspect. The sunrises, sunsets and views are spectacular. The gardens are beautifully kept and that pool…….wow! I took items with me that I didn’t need to have packed, everything is there for you to use. Our boys were delighted that there were football goals, table tennis, bikes and a bbq! We had planned days out but we only left once to go kayaking, we just didn’t feel the need to leave apart from the daily trip into Payzac for croissants and cakes. There was even a welcome hamper on our arrival so we could get some wine chilling before having to venture out to a supermarket. Very special memories made in a beautiful part of the country, I will never forget those very special views. The only downside is that it’s fully booked next summer so we have to wait 2 years to return!!!! The owners really have thought of everything to provide a fabulous holiday - thank you

it doesn't get much better than this

If you could make a wish list of your perfect holiday destination, this place would tick every box on your list. Beautiful house, beautiful surroundings, the loudest noise is the sound of a bee as it buzzes by, air con, stunning private pool, really comfortable beds, bags of parking, super friendly UK owners, nearest neighbour is a long long away , along with support from the kind pool man and the mid week helper to check all was ok. We have been back twice so far, and hope to go again. We have stayed at many other places in France and this place is WAY ahead of any of them.

idyllic Gite

The Gite, gardens and pool were all we had imagined and more. We enjoyed a fabulous two weeks here, we had good weather and had great use of the pool which is clean and a lovely temperature. The house was well stocked with everything you would need, tidy and had v comfy beds. We have come home fully relaxed and recharged! We will be back.

Beautiful French farmhouse

By Roger & Nicki Knight on 30-Jul-2022

Spent another week at this lovely farmhouse. A week in the mid 30’s relaxing around the pool was what the Dr ordered. The house & 2 acre grounds are beautiful & peaceful. Mind you you may get disturbed by bird song & occasional tractor in a field. The salt water heated pool is fantastic. We loved this property when we visited two years ago during Covid problems & was a lovely escape after lockdown & decided to visit again. The owners go above & beyond to make sure everything goes smoothly. The welcome pack is fantastic. This is the nicest place we have rented & we have done many, most in the Dordogne region. This is a home from home & you can tell the owners love the house also & has been a family holiday home for many years. Restored to a very high standard. Lovely lounge with large TV & Sky box so you have all the usual English TV channels. For families there’s everything available. Pool, table tennis, bikes, darts, basketball hoop, badminton net & Wi-Fi for their gadgets etc. I can’t imagine anyone not loving this property & grounds. If this place is available then book it, you won’t be disappointed. Ideally located for visiting all the many locations to visit. Located roughly an hours drive south of Limoges. We WILL be back!
