Located on the Normandy/Pays de la Loire and Brittany borders, our renovated barn was professionally renovated in 2020/21 to produce two luxury holiday gîtes in the French countryside.

Each gîte is designed for couples and both are approx. 60m2 and are on two levels, downstairs with an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area with a wood burner. Upstairs, the bedrooms each have a Super King-size bed (200x200cm) (which can be split to 2 singles) under a vaulted oak beamed ceiling with an en-suite bathroom and underfloor heating. Outdoors we have a terrace alongside the barn and a large garden area with decking and seating. Both are perfect places to relax, read a book and enjoy a glass of wine. There is also a fire pit should you wish to sit out later in the evening. Being in rural France it is very quiet here with just the sound of birds and the occasionally tractor and with no light pollution this enable you to see the incredible night sky.

Both kitchens are fully equipped, with crockery and cutlery for 4 people.
All linen (100% cotton sheets and duvet) towels (bath sheet and hand towel each) bathrobes are included.
In Summer 4.0 tog and Winter 10.4 tog duvets.
Each gîtes has a fan to cool you on those warm nights.

In winter we supply logs to cover your first 2 nights - we charge 8.00 Euros for extra panniers of fire wood.
We do not have any hidden extras - so NO final cleaning charge, electricity charged etc. Only extras are extra fire wood and meals you choose to have.

We are pet friendly, your dog can roam the garden and we can suggest walks for you to enjoy. UK guests require their dog wormed in France before returning to the UK. We can make an appointment at the local vet for you.

The gîtes are primarily for adults - however we do accept a child up to 4 years old free of charge. We are able to supply a cot.

We like to offer our guests real customer service, we live here so we are very happy to advise you on places to visit, activities, walking and cycling routes, recommended restaurants etc. So please ask.

Guests can stay here either self-catering or we offer breakfast daily should you wish. (Continental and cooked options)
We also offer dinner - Menus are on our website or can be view on our Simply Owners Photo gallery.
An Arrival supper after a days travelling should you not wish to cook or eat out.
Our 2 or 3 course dinner is available any day or you may wish to celebrate a birthday or anniversary with our Dîner Gourmand.
Our Welcome pack for you to enjoy includes - A bottle of red wine and water, crisps, chocolates, Dolche Gusto coffee capsules, tea bags, sugar, mints and fruit.

We ask you to text us your estimated arrival time, so we can welcome you and show you around the gîte. In winter, perhaps more in important so that we can light the wood burner an hour or so before your arrival, so you arrive to a nice warm and cozy gîte.

This is our first year with Simply Owners - since opening in April 2021 we have had over 750 guests stay at La Martinière from 44 different countries. We have 142x 5* reviews on AirBnB and score 9.8 with Booking.com.
