Description

Cottage in south west France, near Duras, Aquitaine, France. lovingly restored, set in private garden overlooking the picturesque Dropt Valley. 4 kilometres from the Dordogne.

Whether you are looking for a romantic setting, a base for sightseeing or a lovely situation where you can relax by the pool, Les Costes fits the bill. Surrounded by beautiful countryside within easy reach of picturesque villages many housing colourful markets and providing a variety of restaurants.

Situated in a small tranquil hamlet of just 6 houses on a no through lane overlooking the picturesque Dropt Valley this lovely stone cottage is ideally located between Eymet, a 13th century bastide town in the Dordogne and Duras with its beautiful chateau in the Lot and Garonne.

The cottage is set in a private garden, with private terrace where you can eat al fresco. There are table, chairs and sun recliners where you can relax amongst the lilac and various fruit trees which not only provide a lovely natural shade but where you are welcome to enjoy the fruits namely, cherries, figs, plums and apples as they ripen.

The pool is occasionally used by us Yvonne and Paul (although we have no need to be in the pool whilst you are using it) and around the pool we provide sunbeds, tables and chairs exclusively for your use. Bicycles are available so that you can enjoy and explore the Dropt valley and the vineyards/area.

If you don't know this area you will be surprised at how many beautiful medieval villages and towns are dotted around many hosting jazz and medieval festivals. Alternatively relax in the peace of the countryside and enjoy a book and /or a glass of wine around the pool, in the garden or wander around our 2 acres

Secluded and delightful cottage just made for 2

By Marilyn willis on 22-Sep-2024

This was our second visit to this charming cottage. The cottage is in a delightful peaceful setting and should suit couples who love privacy and tranquil surroundings. The owners have provided a little oasis in which to enjoy a piece of rural france. It is an ideal Base to explore the many wonderful bastile towns and markets, and experience the many restaurants. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful if help or local knowledge are needed. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Absolutely fabulous

By Melvyn Doidge on 24-Aug-2024

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to this fabulous cottage. Everything about the property and location is excellent and the owners go above and beyond to make your stay extra special. The garden and pool area are idyllic, and it's wonderful to return to the pool after exploring the many beautiful towns and villages in the area. We will definitely return for a 4th visit in the future. We have no hesitation in recommending this perfect property.

Exceeded expectations

By Sarah Worthington on 20-Jul-2024

We have just had the most wonderful week in Pardaillan and were so reluctant to leave. The property feels bigger and is even nicer than the pictures suggest, with everything you could need for a very comfortable stay. There is plenty to do locally, but the property is well located to go further afield, as we did, to visit St Emilion and Sarlat-le Canada. The local towns had great markets (day and night) to explore. Yvonne and Paul were incredibly welcoming, especially on the first evening, after the journey down. We have never stayed at a property with owners on site so we weren't sure if it would work for us. However, our hosts were both great company, providing useful information and ideas for activities, as well very discreet and giving us all the privacy we wanted. It worked very well for us and I completely understand why they have so many repeat bookings. I really hope we get to go back, maybe for a little longer next time. Yvonne and Paul- Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven Sarah and Matt (Sheffield, UK)

Superb

We were very disappointed to have to leave the cottage. Yvonne and Paul are the most welcome and generous of hosts - we so enjoyed their company. The Cottage is really very well furnished and the pool so welcome. Great walks within reasonable distances. GREAT FORTNIGHT!

Absolutely beautiful

We cannot say enough about this really wonderful cottage. It was just perfect for the two of us it had absolutely everything you could have needed Set between two beautiful places Duras and Eymet which are definitely worth a visit for their lovely bars and restaurants. This is an excellent location to explore this beautiful part of France We could not have asked for two better hosts in Yvonne and Paul. They gave us so much information on where would be lovely places to visit, when the markets and food festivals were on. We were even supplied with different leaflets from n different places. The pool and surrounding gardens are just stunning. Yvonne and Paul are on hand at any time if you want to speak to them about anything. An absolutely perfect holiday for us. Thank you Yvonne and Paul we will definitely be back to see you again one day.

Wonderful relaxing week staying at this beautiful cottage, highly recommended.

By Fi & Allan Jeffries on 08-Jun-2024

Stayed in this beautiful cottage for a week in early June and despite mixed weather we had a wonderful relaxing week. It is perfect for two people, very spacious and has everything you could need. Paul and Yvonne are fabulous hosts, with nothing too much trouble. From the first moment I booked, Yvonne was very responsive to my emails, answering all my questions and making me feel welcome from the very start. She emailed with the time the cottage would be available and she and Paul were there to welcome us with a glass of wine and a lovely welcome pack in the cottage. The cottage is as described, very spacious, comfortable bed, excellent shower and spotlessly clean. The cottage has it's own private garden space, but there are also loungers in the main garden by the pool which was lovely to swim in. The surrounding area is glorious countryside with spectacular views, excellent Bastide towns to visit nearby. We enjoyed meals out in Duras which is only a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Paul and Yvonne had plenty of helpful suggestions of places to visit and the information provided in the cottage was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday in wonderful surroundings and hosted by a lovely couple. Thank you Paul and Yvonne, we will be back.
